Hi,

Please clear me on this...

2. by purchasing GIC @ CAD $ 10,000 + paying 1 year Tuition fee,

For the above as Im falling under non-SPP, I have paid my complete tuition fee and education loan approved letter for about 12 lacs..

Is this fine?

please suggest me!!!!

if you are applying under Non-SPP, still you can apply with GIC or if you can avail Education Loan of the same amount CAD $ 10,000 then it is the substitute of GIC under Non- SPP (GENERAL) Application.

as you are applying with 12 lac education loan equivalent to CAD $ 21400 (according to today CAD $ Rate 1 CAD=56 INR), its is much sufficient.

this is absolutely fine .

what is GIC please
According to Citizenship and Immigration Canada guidelines, you will require approximately $10,000 CAD
per year, not including tuition fees, to cover your living expenses. This requirement is fulfilled through the
purchase of a participating GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) from Scotia Bank Canada, and evidence that you have paid your tuition.

At present, Scotiabank is the only participating Canadian financial institution.

Apply for the Scotiabank Student GIC Program, by visiting their website, to learn more about the GIC and
download the GIC Application form.

Once your Scotiabank Student GIC has been opened, you may transfer funds to your account in Canada
by using any bank in India in which you hold your account.

Applications will not be accepted by VFS under the SPP ( Student Partner Program ) without a copy of the
formal GIC document issued by Scotia Bank. No wire transfers or bank remittances will be accepted as a proof of purchase of a GIC.

Hello,
I have been endlessly researching and have written to few universities asking the same question; however the answers I received is not precise. I am now more confused than before. I am hoping to receive some answers to my questions below.

Questions:

  • 1. B.com in 1996- I wish to purse Business Management in Canada. Is my education gap from 1996 - 2014 a problem?
    2. What can I do to fulfil the education eligibility requirement to pursue a 2 year bachelor diploma in Canada?
    3. Overseas education agents in India say that my education gap since my last education from 1996 till now is a huge problem for positive visa and also Canadian Universities will not accept me. Is this true?

I finished my 3-year bachelor's degree in Commerce from India in 1996 but I have been working since grade 12. After my degree, I went on to work full time mostly in Business administration, consultancy area for past 18 years.
I also have a Diploma in Personal Secretarial course (1 year) in 1998 and I have done certification course in Graphic design in 2013. Besides this, I have given my IELTS test and i am expecting my results this friday. I expect excellent scores as my english is pretty good.

Now I would like to do a 2-year Business Management program from Canada to upgrade my skills. Will the gap in years of my education be a barrier? How do I overcome this?

How do I go about it? Any suggestions will be hugely appreciate.
    Thank you very much
as you have told yourself that after 1996 you have the work experience till 2014 included some courses like Graphics Design and other one Diploma in Personal Secretarial course. as you have work experience so who said you have a gap, this is not a gap, this is a part of your professional voyage, got it.

this is not a gap and you don't need to do anything regarding this and please don't ride the horse of your mind.

what you need to do is you have to put all your academic history in an organized way in front of VO so that VO can understand your genuine intention, don't try to mess up your visa file with bundle of documents, some time well framed words do the real job.

prepare a strong luring SOP (statement of purpose) and show the lucidity and coherency in your SOP and information in your SOP should be well framed, structured and crystal clear and try to put your intention in a transparent way in front of VO,,, thats it,,, nothing need to worry more.

regarding documentation, let me know you wanna apply under SPP/ GENERAL application, then further i can tell you more.

1. choose the right course match with your previous education and Work Experience.
2. try to find the unique course match both with your previous education and work experience .
3. don't go with simple business diploma like stuffs. you can choose the Diploma courses like:

. Financial Analyst
. Financial Planning
. General Insurance and Risk Management
. Human Resource Management
. International Business Management
. Business Operations Management

as you have done Diploma in Graphics Design, then you can also choose the following course like:

1. IT Business System Analyst
2. IT Project Management
3. IT Risk Management

got my point,,, because your first main motto should be how to fetch visa and rest things later.

tc..

I just checked the vfs website and got to know most of the documents I need to collect to apply for a study permit. I just have a few questions regarding the "Proof of Funds", My dad is a businessman and he will be sponsoring me (through bank balance mostly) for the entire duration of my studies.

I want to know what are the different documents my dad has to provide for the same?

How to prove that I will return to Canada after the completion of my studies and family ties etc (I'm naive about this)?

Can I take medical exam a month or so before applying for visa?

Is obtaining a GIC must under general category?

Best method of payment of tuition fee for the first year?

My Profile
-----------
10th-83%
12th-75%
BE(Mech)-7.37 (Overall)
IELTS-8.0
1.5 years working experience

Cheers!
1. if you are applying under Non-SPP APPLICATION, just follow the GENERAL CHECKLIST, no need to show anything except GIC CAD $ 10,000/ Education loan of same amount + 1 Year Tuition fee.

2. regarding your second point // How to prove that I will return to Canada after the completion of my studies and family ties etc (I'm naive about this)? //
don't worry about this part.. you can't do anything in this regards. if you are working somewhere and your employer write something like this that after completion of your study in Canada and when you came back to India your employer will promote your designation.. this is what your seconds point.

3. // Can I take medical exam a month or so before applying for visa? // this is called upfront visa/ E-medical.. you can absolutely..

4. // Is obtaining a GIC must under general category? //
NO... substitute is Education loan from Bank.

5. // Best method of payment of tuition fee for the first year? //

EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) in College Account.

6. your profile is very strong ,,, VISA Chances 99%, rest 1% luck..

Dear gkb8062

Thanks for your inputs and suggestions. Very helpful indeed.

I'm not sure IF i should be applying via SPP or general category. I have been told to look out for post baccalaureate courses in Business Administration or programs that resonate with my years of experience -- which is, Setting up business from ground up, managing, operations, business development and training. From the list you write here-- Business Operations Management seems to be the appropriate one, however not sure if that course is offered in post baccalaureate list of programs.

Any idea? I am wanting to find something appropriate in Windsor area or about 100 miles of Windsor.

I was told to go for post baccalaureate programs because of my education gap (overlooking my work experience in the gap for a min), and the fact that I chose to go the "Business" side in my work so far and not really cared much about the accountancy aspect which was my major in my final year of Bachelor in Commerce.

This is evident that my past education is not in line with my work experience---however the course I would like to pursue now--- Business administration, Business Management / Business operation Management--- all of these is most certainly in line with my past 10 years of work experience.

One another thing "gkb8062" is that I am not in a position to fund myself entirely for my education in Canada, I have my uncle (dad's bro) in Canada who is willing to fund toward my education. In this case, what will be the amount needed to be shown in my bank account at the time of visa application? I understand that I will have to pay for the 1st semester and have $10,000 CAD in the form of GIC. Here I will not be able to show satisfying bank statement for 3 - 6 months of my own. How do I present my case with a sponsor? How do I handle this in such a way that it works in my favor? What else am I missing?

My main concerns are--- post baccalaureate in Business related programs, the total amount needed during visa application, How to present a sponsor who is funding for my education as my own bank statement is not so pretty?

Btw, I have had a tourist visa refusal in November 2012 on the grounds of "Not satisfactory" (probably home ties and finances, I had $8000 at the time)

Given all of these I mention above--how successful will my visa application be?

Thanks very much for all your assistance.

@Gkb8062

Hello,

I have been asking this question and got some brilliant suggestions from senior members on this forum However I am still seeking some clarification on my profile and suggestions too. i have seen your post and I am really happy to see how you trying to help international students on this forum, you are doing a great job.
I am writing my profile below and want to know your thoughts regarding Study visa chances and things to do. please advise!
10th in 2002 with 58%
10+2 in 2004 with 69% ( Commerce stream)
B.Com from Eiilm University, 2008-2011 with 64%

Client relation specialist- Salon from Aug 2004-January 2008 I have been doing lot of business development and marketing stuff for them too. It was a cash paying job, so I have no proof other then experience certificate that I requested them now while applying for studies in Canada as I never though of getting it from them before.
Sr. Sales Adviser in a call center based in New Delhi from march 2008 to Oct 2011 I have been promoted after 24 months as project management specialist and worked for about 19 months. I was taking care of New International projects from them such as searching for new projects, client meeting over web, filling contracts and implementing project in India, operations - I can only show offer letter and experience certificate from this employer too.
Nov 2011 to September 2013 worked as Sr.Sales executive for U.S.A based M.N.C/B.P.O left and now I have been working as freelancer for one of my U.S.A based client for his project that he is willing to launch in India soon in couple of months I have not been getting any payments for this but it's a kind of volunteer program for me where in I will be getting a royalty once this program is launched and running successfully in India. I have nothing to show this experience letter but can if required I can get this in writing from client and he can verify it through our websites and internet presence.

Collage: Conestoga College
program: Global Business Management for 1 year certificate
Finances: $13392 i.e Rs 7.50.000 as Bank Loan
GIC- $10,000 savings
Personal expenses $4000 This is what I have as finances

What are my chances for study visa and anything you can advise to make my file strong for Visa?
Did I chose the right course? and do we have option to extend this course to some relevant course after 1 year? Is this course going to offer me some opportunities in Canada to start my career( I am just talking about starting career but no high profile jobs initially)
What would you suggest about extending my stay in Canada as definitely my intention is not to come back in 2 years may be after some more years but not after 2 for sure.

Thank you and Good day to you.

Hi,

Is it possible to use my uncle (who is residing in Canada with his family) as my primary sponsor and my parents as support? Like all the required financial documents will be coming from him. What impression do you think it would have on the visa officer?

Thanks and I will appreciate your prompt reply.

no sponsor is required more (under SPP application), just buy GIC Certificate @ CAD $ 10,000 and pay 1 Year Tuition fee to college, ,,, thats it,,,

if you are applying under GENERAL/ UNIVERSITY then separate story.

under Canadian Student Visa, primary sponsor is always parents ,, no one other looks legitimate.. expect Australian Student Visa ,, grand father/mother, paternal uncle/aunt, father's friend, mother's sister/brother any one can sponsor you but this is not the case with Canadian Student Visa..

you can but risk is 50:50.. (but don't required under SPP Application ,,, clearly mentioned under SPP application, just buy GIC @ CAD $ 10,000 and pay ur 1st Year Tuition Fee to prove your financial stability... thats it..

ya as i have told if you are applying under GENERAL/ UNIVERSITY application, still you can prove your financial stability by buying GIC @ CAD $ 10,000/ Education loan of same amount (for single applicant, if spouse is accompanying you make double) and 1 Year Tuition fee paid in advance...thats it..

tc...
