Alright so I've tried to get myself informed as much as I can, but there's just so much that I haven't found answers for and some things I just need reassurance about.
To start off I want to sponsor my american fiance. Our plan was that he come here(canada) in march so we could get married and then apply for PR and sponsorship except there's a tiny issue. Sadly his job cannot give him more than a month leave (which is reasonable), although we'll be requiring more than that amount of time so he'd have to quit his job. With that said he wouldn't exactly have any ties if he quit his job persay. He doesn't have any bills with his name on it because he lives with his parents and just pays them directly. What other types of documents/proof could he show at the border that would prove his ties? Would it cause red flags if he were to have a letter written by his manager that he'd have a job when he came back to the states or does that not count? Would he also be turned down if he wanted to stay the max amount of time of 6 months?
As far as the application of PR, are we better off applying outland than inland? We'd both prefer if he could stay in Canada during the whole wait time, is that possible?
On the sponsorship side, would it affect my eligibility if I lived with my mother who's on welfare. My mother is ill and cannot provide for herself which is why I live with her. I am employed and pay half of the bills + other living expenses.
Finally I have one last concern. Is it possible to remain in Canada with just a PR or would he have to become citizen?
Thank you for taking the time to read!
