Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

I know there is a person here whose certificate was mailed after the passport (they confirmed this over the phone) - does anyone know how long it takes for the certificate to be mailed?

Just called them - they told me that now they have backlog with tracking numbers as well so even if you get the tracking number it just means the label is created but the documents will be send within 2 weeks...

I have a friend that applied for a child passport by mail.

Application mailed June 25
CC charged July 13.
Nothing since then.

He called the passport office this morning and was advised that his application is "awaiting approval" and that passports are "very delayed" and he should call back in September. I've advised him to submit a complaint.

September? This is crazy...Honestly, I am thinking of writing a second complaint but this time in regards to my certificate if I don't get it next week. I want to receive it before I travel just for the peace of mind. They haven't mailed it yet but promised to

I wonder. When he gets that passport, will the issue date show mid july even though he received it in September? That would be adding insult to injury. Wait 2 months for it and lose two months of passport validity period.

CC Charged on Aug 05, 2021
Passport issue date Aug 13, 2021
Passport Dispatched on Aug 16,2021
Received Originals and Passport - single package on Aug 18, 2021 by Xpresspost ( Delivered to mailbox, No signature required)

So that is a 30 day turnaround time.

I received my citizenship certificate today( took oath on 05 August). Already applied for passport today through walk in service (Kitchener). Passport will be mailed on 26 August. Fingers crossed.

Received my passport today! Yayy! That was quick man. Applied through walk in on 12th august, normal application (not urgent not express) received it today. 4 business days. They had returned my certificate on spot That concludes a long journey for me! Complete timeline is in my signature. Good luck and all the best!

LOL. That's weird but congrats! I guess in-person applications are the way to go! Mail-in applications are taking too long at this time.
