Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Hi All, I am going to apply for the passport this coming week, I am unable to find an appointment in any passport office, and not sure if submitting an application at service Canada would guarantee passport delivery on time. I am planning to attend my friend's wedding in June in Seattle but not sure if I will have the passport by then. Please suggest what should I do

I am not sure if something similar has been discussed earlier as I am new to the passport thread.

You have to call Passport services and ask for a transfer. You will need proof of travel within the next 10 business days though.

If you are traveling by Car to Seattle, write a self declaration letter stating you have to attend a friend’s marriage, and if your friend can send you an invitation for the marriage, attach it with the letter.

Passport office opens at 8:30AM, they accept Walk-in. Like harirajmohan said go there a day before to see long is the queue and lineup 2 hours in advance
(Lining up there doesn’t guarantee that you will be called inside)

Yes. If travel date is too close they may ask you to pick up

CanadaPost. Got my passport yesterday at their (CanadaPost) office. The certificate and passport were in the same envelope. Also, I would advise against including an additional envelope in the application package, even if a CanadaPost worker suggests so. Got that envelope unused with my passport and certificate.

If you manage to book an appointment at a passport office can you go and bring documents to have an urgent passport evn you submitted by mail before?

I tried doing this (filing a new in person urgent application while I had a mailed-in one already pending; disclosing this of course to the agent). They said it’s not allowed and refused to let me file my second application.

What time of day did people have luck getting through by phone? I’ve tried all times of day and have only gotten through once at 4pm EST and then my phone hung up accidentally when I was caller #80 (sigh).

hi guys, do you know up to approximately what date that applications have been submitted have received their passport?

my application was received on march 31 and cc charged on apr 27. just wondering if it is realistic to expect my passport this month as i was planning some travel in june

I talked to the passport office last week and they said the citizenship certificate and passport would be sent back separately, which was a surprise. Maybe it's different from one province to another? I'd actually like it it they sent them back separately, because then I'd still be in a better place if Canada Post lost one of the envelopes. I'm really freaked out about Canada Post. They're horrible and they lost my passport a few years ago.
