Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Still waiting on my son's passport. Delivered on May 4 and to date no credit card charge. In the amount of time his has been in process, I had already been charged and received my passport. Can't get through on any phone lines, my MP who said they would look into it has gone silent, no response from any of the submission forms.

No idea if they even have it cos I cant check. Im more than happy to wait in a 2 or 3 hour phone queue. I just cant even get to the line.

Same here! Just can't get through. No tracking mechanism, nothing! And they have the original certificate!

Yeah, me too - I think I might have to cancel my trip to the US at any rate, but hopefully it comes before my NEXUS appointment.

But yeah, I'm based in Toronto, always down to share a cold one with fellow people stuck in the system.

Hi, Is there any other way to transfer the file ? I am trying to call them since last week but not able to connect. I applied on April 21st in Service canada office but still waiting. Please advice.

Mine arrived May 4th too and my card hasn't been charged. My MP who was helpful and responsive in the beginning has now gone silent too.

I travel July 20th. Can go line up tomorrow or will they send me away? Any tips on the surrey or richmond office? Which one is better? My MP did tell me Monday and Fridays are busiest days for lining up in the Vancouver area offices.

called 3 days back, Agent told that passport is in production.

hopefully i should get it in 2 weeks .

April 25: Mailed out the application;
April 27: the Application Received;
June 2: Fee was charged on credit card;
July 6: called 1-800-567-6868 to transfer the case to local passport office because travel date is July 18; additional $45 will be charged;

During the call, I was told they started processing on May 19 and it takes nine weeks from the process date not the date that they received the application. It is misleading on the website saying 9 weeks plus the mail time to get it. If you are travelling within 10 days, call 1-800-567-6868 at 8:30 am sharp Eastern Time. I have been calling for the last few days. I got very lucky today.

Well I seem to have gotten really lucky. This is my timeline;
Appt Service Canada in Edmonton on June 21, scanned documents and took my application.
Called yesterday at 12:45 only 11 people in the que before me. Waited 45 minutes to speak to someone.
They let me know my passport being mailed out that the same day.
Received this morning. Exactly two weeks and one day from date I met with Service Canada.

Maybe things are starting to get better.

Yours must be an urgent application ie with a ticket in hand as well? Service canada?? And just in 10 or so days? How? Can you explain a bit more! Appreciated

I was ahead of 11 and waited for 1 hr.

I recently contacted them and they said. Its under examination even after 3 months of applying. I asked do you need any information from my side and they replied , No.

I asked them to return my original citizenship certificate as they have already scanned it and they said they are sending this week.

Thats the update i have now.

No not an urgent application. Yes just made an appointment on website. If your travel is after 45 days you can only make an appt with someone at service canada. As per website timelines. I made the appt in May but did not get in until June on 21st.

Was this a renewal? I applied on Apr 26th for my 1st passport as a new citizen and still far from done.
