Canadian Passport in person timeline

applied on March 25th, and expected mail out date was April 26. NO NEWS at all and when i call, the automated messages says there are high volume of calls and just hangs up. SO ANNOYING. How am i supposed to follow up? I am traveling in 4 weeks. and NEED this asap. Is it gonna help if i visit the office where I applied for the passport and ask in person?

3) If you are in Canada < you are on the track to stay there, it took 1 hr 26 minutes yesterday for my wife to speak to someone after we got on this line. There may be a long queue 187 calls ahead of you, 290 calls ahead of you, put on a speaker (hands free), and do your work, keep an eye. stay close when it says you have 5 or less calls a head, you will be next in less than 10 minutes from there.

And how long it's been for you waiting?

AFAIR when I applied there were just two categories urgent and not-urgent. All this 45 day crap they have just come up with. I was supposed to get it within 4-5 weeks and today completed my 9th week. So I have been waiting for 9 weeks.

When is your flight ? Did you ask to pick up instead of mail out ?

My flight is on July 13. Yes, she gave me two options pick-up or mail, and I chose the pick-up option.

I'm in a similar situation (regular application/non-urgent). I applied on March 11, 2021. The mail-out date was Apr 8, 2021, and the delivery estimation was Apr 19, 2021. I got nothing so far and haven't tried to call them yet. I'm considering calling them next week to see what's going on.

I emailed the office and gave them my application file number as well as a breakdown of my >2 years citizenship processing time and that I found it totally unacceptable to be let down by the government authorities for a simple process like a passport application. I believe my MPA got the point and luckily they took it serious enough so that they followed up pretty much everyday with Passport Canada.

Why are some people taking about credit card chared date when they applied in person? I applied in person at service canada location (not Passport Canada) and my card was charged right there using a machine. Can someone please clearify my confusion.

Correct, i dont think they let us go out of the building without paying the fees .

It only applies to mail-in passport applications

When we submit application for passport in-person they give mail out date based on your travel date during which they will mail the passport to you. I think that they give estimated mail out date even if we dont have travel date(i think that this is their process).
If they have too many applications then surely they delay even if they have given mail out date to send you passport.
it seems that processing time varies based on each office since they dont share load and process based on first come.

cic sends citizenship certificate on the address on file. Avoid giving new address during oath since many(including my wife) are getting their certificate at old address even though new address was given while sending signed oath form. So make sure you have your friend's Canadian address on your file is updated days before the oath.

Yes i went to windsor from detroit last week to apply for my family's passport. Used only Indian passport and citizenship certificate. Secondary inspection is not always related to immigration hence its not related whether one is citizen or non citizen of that country. Secondary inspection will be same as before with more questions. I was not sent to secondary in the last trip.

Passport officer was not allowing Canadian mailing address. She said that she would mail out to US only or i need to pickup passports(by bringing my wife and son). So i chose to get it mailed out as officer was anyway charging US fees.

Keep dialing. it took 103 attempts Wednesday, and 144 attempts the week or so before. you just have to keep trying till you break into the line.

So to continue my timeline, I applied through Service Canada on the 30th of April, and in the same week got a new job which requires travel within a month... I waited until 10 business days before travel (24th of May), and called in. 144 attempts to break into the line, then another 186 spots into the queue. Took a little more than an hour once into the queue. Asked for file transfer, they asked if I had proof of travel. All I had was a letter from my employer stating that a training course was held in the US and that the start date was on the 6th of June.

They said they'd send a request for file transfer, and the next day I got a call from the local (Winnipeg) office to fax in proof, I used a computer program to fax for me, unfortunately there is no way of knowing whether they received it or not, so I tried to be patient. When I finally received the tickets I sent those as well to this fax number, but still no acknowledgement of receipt...

On Wednesday THIS week (less than 48 business hours) to travel, I called again, 103 attempt to break in, 86th in queue (perhaps things are easing up?) , and asked about status. They said the file was being worked on, but no guarantees, and to await a phone call either Thursday or Friday. Nothing Thursday, so I decided to go to the office Friday morning to be proactive. When I arrived at 815am the line was around the corner from the door, but not horrible, and I was in within 15 minutes of arriving, went in the first line, got to front, sent to line two... When I get to the window, she said there are no guarantees, but she'd look into it. Came back and said photos were scanned in badly at Service Canada, and could I get new ones.... So I ran a block to photo place, got new pictures, ran back, and she gave me a pickup time! 3.5 hours later. The moral is, I guess, if it's getting close to the rail, go check on the status if you can. nerve wracking sitting an waiting that's for sure!

So at the appointed time on Friday less than 36 hours before travel (Travel Sunday) I received my new Canadian Passport..

In brief
Applied 30th of April
Applied for transfer 24th of May
Status check 1st of June through phone queue
Went to office 3rd of June to check on status, and had to correct file, but later issued that day.

Last note before I sign off, I got my citizenship on March the 1st, but waited with the passport 2 months because I spent money on other things, in hindsight, I should have done that immediately. So friends: A little friendly advise, as soon as you're legal to, APPLY FOR PASSPORT!!

Hello , hope all is well!! I am going to apply for non urgent passport in Person and I have few questions about this,
1. I want to apply in person but I want the passport deliver by mail. Is this possible, if possible then do I need to take the return envelope with me or can I pay there in the office by using credit/debit card ?

2. Can I pay the application fee in the office by using credit/debit card or do I need the payment form with debit/ credit card information to submit with the application?
