So I finally got a call aftet 6 days from Passport office against my request to book an appointment. They said that no date is available before 1st of May and to mail in my application. It seems that that they are asking everyone to mail in the request if they have no urgent travel. Any suggestions which office to go to which has the shortest line if I want to submit my application as a walk in request? I live in Mississauga

You can try Service Canada close to Kipling Go Station. That's where I went for walk-in. They didn't ask for any proof of travel.

Hello friends, I'm looking to applying my passport by walking in St. Catherines and Kitchener office. Do you happen to know if they're open to walk-ins?

Thanks for your help!

I suggest try walking in Service Canada if it's close to you. That's what I did and they accommodated me. But I just have to patiently wait for 2 hrs because they are prioritizing those who has appointments which makes sense.

Just received my passport in the mail! Applied last Friday with regular processing (10 business days), recieved it a week later today.

Congratulations! That's great news!

Sharing my experience. Just went to Levis Service Canada (Quebec City south shore) this morning.
  1. Arrived at 8:30am, there was a couple of people in front of us.
  2. I get to the counter and explain I'm there to apply for three passports (mine, my wife's, and our kid, who wasn't with us because of school)
  3. She asked if we had an appointment, I said no.
  4. She asked for the documents, she briefly checked them and then gave them back to us and asked us to sit and wait to be called
  5. At around 8:40 someone called my name and we went to their desk
  6. The officer had a second person with them and asked if it was okay because the other person was in training. I said sure
  7. They checked all the documentation. They asked us to strike and add initials to all fields that were blank
  8. They made copies of our citizenship certificates and IDs then handed them back to us
  9. Gave us a phone to call in case our passports had not been delivered by April 25
I was in and out in about 35 minutes.

Submitted Family of 3 Fresh Passport request at Service canada Brossard . Walk in without appointment. There was a queue before and after me.

waited around 12 minutes outside , on arrival an employee walk the line and ask everyone reason for coming ( she ask me in French, i said english ," What brings you here today" ), i said i want to apply passport, she then ask me again, do you have a travel date / plan. I said NO.

Same questions inside first counter, verifed the application and photos, said good, sit there , you will be called with name. I have my little girl with me.
it's a Random or that's the queue or becuase i have small child with me, i was called when i made my daughter sit the chair. less than 30 seconds.

everything was Smooth, but she took my son DOB cerifictae and went out and came back and said, she will retain it as your son was bron outside canada , we will send it for validation. You will receive it by post the orignal, is that ok with you. I said ok. she ask to strike off the date for Health card becuase quebec health card do not have date, only month and year, she took my sign next to the strking i did on her reqeust. she gave me 27th April would be the Maximum date i should get it if not call the number marked on the receipt.

i was working from home, so i was working on my mobile while she is doing her work. Except the Orignal retained (she gave areceipt for it). it was a smooth execution from the employee.

in and out in 40 minutes. she was slow, she said she will be slow, she will take time if i don't mind. it was not the regular outside cabins where peeple waiting, it's the office she took me in.

Thanks. Can you advise what was the wait time and at what time you went there?

I suggest go there early. They open at 8:30AM.

Anyone here has applied for urgent pick up, if so could you'll help me understand the process, so my questions are: can we walk in for urgent processing to the nearest service Canada or should it be by appointment only? next question might sound silly but I'm gonna ask anyway, can I try to book my appt even before I get my certificate? or just up to my own discretion?

there are 2 places for in person application. One is Service Canada where one can walk in but it doesn’t offer urgent service, the other is Passport Office of Service Canada, but you need appointment for it with a proof of travel need. There is no requirement for having certificate in hand at time of appointment AFAIK

Great! thank you for the response.

As an update, after requesting an urgent appointment on the 14th of March I received a call yesterday (22nd March, 8 days later, not the 2 days they quote online) to schedule my appointment. I was warned that it was unlikely there would be any...fortunately there was a cancellation at my local office this coming Friday - should have passport inhand for travel next week!

Passport Canada website now says you dont need an appointment for urgent pickup, just walkin with proof of travel. I confirmed it with their call center. They said this new guidance changed in the last 2 days.

Hypothetical question :
1. Let’s say A person finished their oath today and is now waiting for their certificate in the mail, could The person try and make an appointment for an in person passport appointment while I wait for the certificate to arrive ? Do they have you for your certificate number or anything ?
Obviously the applicant would request an appointment a few weeks out so they ensure the certificate arrives ahead of the appointment .

2. Also, if non -urgent ..how long is the wait to pick up if u go for an in person appointment.

11-Mar: Contacted them via an online form
16-Mar: Received a phone call, got an appointment scheduled
24-Mar: Submitted my application
29-Mar: Pick-up (extra $50)
