I'm brazilian married to a canadian/british citizen (for more than 2 years) and now we are 4 months pregnant and living in the UK. What could be the best way to have the baby in Canada and get public health care? I do not have any canadian papers. Please, need help :)

There isn't enough time for your husband to sponsor your for permanent residency.

So if you want to give birth in Canada, your only option is to come here as a visitor. To come here as a visitor, you must apply for a tourist visa (temporary resident permit).

Since you will be a visitor to Canada, the birth will not be covered by the public health care system. You will have to pay for all of the costs of the medical appointments, tests and delivery yourself. I would budget $8K to $10K to be safe. The costs could be significantly more if there are any complications. You can also reduce the costs by using a midwife and having the birth at home.

Another viable option for you to be eligible to get Canadian (Alberta) public health care is:

1) First get a visitor visa to Canada
2) Go with your husband to the province of Alberta and have him to register for the Alberta healthcare
3) Once your husband has an account with healthcare, he can add you to his account as dependent and you would be covered for giving birth
4) Stay in Alberta for at least 6 months otherwise expect healthcare charge-back.

So you're suggesting that she make a fake refugee claim? Horrible idea.

She's coming from the UK. So clearly there's no grounds for claiming refugee status since the UK is perfectly safe. Canada is also now expediting refusals for refugee claims that have no grounds. She would fall into this category coming from Brazil and living in the UK. So she could be removed from Canada quite quickly. Once she is removed from Canada for a fake refugee claim, any future entries into Canada become much more complicated (including spousal sponsorship).

Again, absolutely horrible idea.

What is wrong with you?!?! It's people like you who are making it difficult for legitimate people to be processed quickly. It's bloody selfish and it's fraud.

Why do you want to have the baby in Canada? Since your husband is Canadian (presumably born in Canada and not born abroad to Canadians), your baby will also be Canadian.... See here about getting a Certificate of Canadian Citizenship: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/goc/citizenship_certificate.shtml Since you're in the UK, you already have public healthcare.

First of All I'm not suggesting . don't tell something that I did not say !!!!.
Secondly, I meant " in case " I forgot to put this word in case , cuz I was looking for an answer similar to this one as well , as I'm in the same family status !!!
So hold on your horses , don't be that fancy expert and judge on people so quickly .
