1. You will not be eligible until you have completed 1 year authorized skilled work in Canada.

# be either:

* a temporary foreign worker with at least two years of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada, or
* a foreign graduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with at least one year of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada

# have gained your experience in Canada with the proper work or study authorization

^ for diplomas and certificate it had to be 2 years full time study and then 1 year job right? and for masters its 1 year and then 1 year job ?

Anyone accepted as a permanent resident under the Canadian Experience Class (based on their studies) has to have studied in Canada for at least two years.

Normally, this means you graduated with a Canadian post-secondary credential that requires at least two academic years of study, but there is one exception.

If you completed a one-year master's (certificates and diplomas do not count with this exception), you would be eligible if you earned it after completing another program of at least one academic year in Canada. Both credentials must be obtained from a post-secondary institution recognized by the province. Each program must be completed within two years of each other.

^ I didn't get this ..its so confusing :P

You need to have two years of Post Secondary Education to qualify for CEC.

Incase your course is of one year duration, for example Masters, then you have TWO options to qualify under CEC

1. Show Two years of Full Time Employment (legally after completing your studies)

OR

2.Study for an extra year by enrolling in another program and then show One year of legal full time work experience.

In either case that is One year program or Two year program, you need to show work experience.

new policy

if you got a 1 year post graduate certificate from Canada you are eligible to apply for 3 years work permit.......

Here is what CIC says

f you studied for… Then…
less than eight months you are not eligible for this program
less than two years but more than eight months you may get a work permit for a period no longer than the length of time you studied (for example, if you studied for nine months, a work permit may be issued for a period of nine months)
two years or more a work permit may be issued for three years
