I do have almost all required documents except degree certificate. My convocation date is last week of May, 2019. Its almost 9 months to go. Does CIC consider for this much period of time as it almost takes 5-6 months to finalize whole process of PR application?

If I fill up the express entry profile now what should I put (a or b) for education qualification?

Standing at the end of study period?
Available options are-
a. In good standing but no diploma or degree awarded
b. Certificate or diploma or degree awarded
Hi, @enigmatic99 What did you end up doing? :)

For those of you who are here, I was in your position after I graduated. I went to immigration lawyer and he advised me not to apply until I get my diploma. However, in 2021 there was a court that ruled that it's not reasonable to reject based on not providing diploma.

Personally, if I had to do all over again, I would wait for my diploma. I think it's a dumb rule as Canadian diplomas is just a piece of paper and transcripts are way more important but here we are...

I agree. Once you pass the exams and complete an education, the college or Uni have to issue transcript and completion certificate. The one you get at convocation is the same completion certificate in the leather case by the Dean or a special guest, that's it..

And yet, there are many cases when someone who applied without a diploma is rejected. I would have been rejected if I didn't listen to my lawyer. However, it might have changed after the aforementioned case.

completion certificate
If you mean diploma, universities do not issue them immediately as they use 3rd party to print them in bulk. For many schools in ON (UT, UWaterloo, Queens, UOttawa), the diploma is printed only before convocation. I graduated in December but my diploma came in May for convocation in June.

I thought you already took your lawyer's advice and waited for the diploma.
I did. I posted it for someone who was like me back in 2019. Someone who was close to making a mistake. I did take the lawyer’s advice and my personal advice is not to apply without Canadian diploma. Yes, there is a court case that came out in 2021 but it’s up to an applicant to wait for a diploma or go through a federal court, where aforementioned case would be used (positively) and the application would be reopened.

Ok great. Clear now and thanks for the patience. So once the degree is conferred, whether you receive the parchment or not, you can apply. I think that sounds good. Thanks!

My advise is NOT TO APPLY WITHOUT CANADIAN DIPLOMA. It comes 4-5 months later after official transcript is released. Without parchment, you DO NOT HAVE A CANADIAN DIPLOMA.

Wow so strange. See technically a student should get it once they completed the course. One should ask these Uni and colleges if they waited for sometime if a student was not able to fees on time?? In countries like UK and Australia you can go to admin and get it printed once you are done. Australia is so advanced that they give them and as well as create an account for you and upload your credential in that app which you can share with WES to get instant evaluation. Why is Canada millions of years away from these countries? Still dependent on cheques rather than direct deposit.
