Hi,
We are applying as common law from outside of Canada. I am a Canadian citizen living in the UK and am sponsoring my partner. We are in the process of getting an application together and as part of this, We've had to apply for a Canadian citizenship certificate for our infant daughter. I've sent the application off to the Canadian embassy. I've seen that they've signed for it but I've not received any communication from the embassy regarding the application. They recieved it in the end of August. Should I be concerned?
Thanks in advance!

No reason to be concerned, it's not that fast a process.

I believe the instructions for your common law application say that you can / should include a copy of the application for citizenship for your daughter (along with other things like birth certificate). So no need to wait for it to come back (but please double-check the instructions) before submitting your PR application.

Also note, you should of course also apply for passport for her, if you've not yet done so.

It's my understanding that we have to provide an application number for the citizenship certificate application so they can check it but as they haven't contacted me I don't have one yet. Does anyone know if this is correct? Additionally, I was under the impression that you can't apply for the passport until you have the citizenship certificate.
Thanks

You'll have to check the instructions carefully for the first question.

My understanding is that it is possible to apply for passport at same time, but not certain. Don't know what to do if not at the same time. Perhaps others here know.

Would give it a couple of months especially during covid.

I applied for my children’s in Australia but think it took about 5-6 months to get it back. I just submitted the receipt from my online payment (the one with the barcode) with our application for family sponsorship for my husband. I think I may have also submitted an email saying it was received. They had their passports by the time my husband had COPR and they never asked for further info from our kids. They aren’t really part of the application as soon as they have that certificate.

Thank you so much! I'm only concerned that I have received nothing saying that they've received the application. However, I will definitely include the receipt as part of our application as well.
