Hi All

I am mero from Egypt , married with a candian citizen by birth , we are living in Egypt . Few days ago we went to the embassy of canada to renew the passport of my wife , the officer told us that my wife should renew her birth certificate online first because it is expired .and then will be able to renew the passport.

Is that true !!!!! The canadian birth certificate could be expired ??????????????

The Canadian embassy must require a new birth certificate to renew the passport abroad. Birth certificates don't expire, but perhaps to do certain things internationally, like renewing a passport abroad, they require a new birth certificate for security reasons.

Thanks tink23

Ok , I am checking the webpage to renew this certificate online , But couldnot find where is the requirments to do this . I mean someone told me about that they will ask for bills that contain her name and her current address .
We are renting the house in Egypt and the bills doesnot contain our name so any help please ? could you check the webpage and tell me where could I find the required Documents please.

Thanks in advance

Not sure, sorry. I ordered my birth certificate online because to get married in my husband's country I needed a long form birth certificate. I'm from Ontario though and the website was easy to navigate. I'm not sure what to do on the Quebec one because it is totally different and the only thing I can see is how to declare a birth.

Hopefully a Quebecer can help you. Good luck.

They don't expire but their is two different types .One just looks like a credit card with info on and the other is a long form which has mothers name fathers name which hospital you were born in .May be they are looking for the long form or looking for an original one to be submitted
