Canada Vs UK processing time For Spouse VISA

My sister is applying under the UK spousal visa scheme and the UK embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia told her that the average processing for UK settlement VISAs is worldwide is 3-4 months.
While the Canadian office in the same Region (East Africa) is 31 months (exluding stage 1), both these offices are dealing in the same area
the fastest Canadian office is Beijing with 6 months, i am wondering what is wrong with the Canadian immigration system? are they understaffed? are there yearly quotas for spouse sponsorships
it is not fair to wait for 3 year to reunite with your spouse.

I am not defending Canada immigration system, but you are doing a wrong comparison.

In UK a part for marrying someone or have a European country nationality you can not immigrate to UK ( I am excluding work visa which is almost impossible to have).

While in Canada you have all sort of immigration possibilities, it is not just limited to Spouse. It can Provincial nominees, Skill worker, etc.. So Canadian immigration have a lot more load then UK.

But I agree that +2 years of timeline for spouse visa is too much, they should do something about it. Verifying that marriage is genuine or not can't take that much time.

In Australia the initial visa you get when you get married lasts for two years, but you aren't able to get access to any government services except for Medicare.

In Canada, when you go through the process, you immediately apply for permanent residence. There's no in between step.

I agree that 2 and a half years is too long, however.

yes you can immigrate as long as you qualified whether under family class or skilled workers it is ok, but their skilled workers are very limited to special needs.

I agree it has more different programs and moving to Canada is much easier than the UK But in terms of VISA load, they are in the same number, even the US which has 4 times more permanent residence VISA load then Canada is faster than Canada compared to slow African offices.
