Hello,

I am applying for a visa to visit my brother, who is a Canadian citizen. I am stuck on the optional documents step and not sure what to show as proof that I will return to India after my visit.

For my job, I have a contract with a U.S. company until June, but it has been paused since February. I also do freelance work mostly and have sufficient funds to show.

Since I don’t have any previous international travel history, what can I do to improve my chances of approval and prove that I will come back to India?

I would really appreciate any advice.

Proof of return is job letter with approved leave, spouse/children, business registration and clients, income properties with leases. If single with no full time job then need absolute proof to return. If jobs are remote then have a harder time to say you will return. You don’t need to return for remote work. Keep visit to 2 weeks.

So what can be done in my case? I don't have any business registration or properties.

Show what you have to prove you will return. Job letter with approved leave is one way. Show that you cannot do the work outside of your country too.

Would personally wait until you are at least back to full-time employment given the rest of your profile. If there is a pause in your remote work you can’t claim to be employed right now other than some freelance work.
