Dear Sir/Madam,
We are a Turkish family of 4 living in Sweden.
We applied for visitor visa (tourist visa) on the 24-04-2019 online and gave biometrics on the 29/04 for me and my family (husband and 2 kids) at VFS Stockholm.
We will be flying to Canada on the 13/07 and will stay until 1/8. We have paid all our flight tickets and accommodation in Canada. When we first applied the processing time was 23 days. So we thought that 3 month before the travel date would be enough to get our visas. In June the processing time became 62 days and now when I checked once again it was 76 days! Now 64 days has past. Unfortunately we won't be able to get our visas in time. We are extremely disappointed and are wondering if there is any chance that we will get our visas in time? I guess we will also need time to send our passport to London for the visa sticker and get them back in time.
I also worked for the Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul for 22 years. I know that summer is a hectic time and there are lots of applications. But would you be kind and offer us any solution? We invested so much money on this trip. Should we cancel the whole trip?

I would appreciate if I could get any kind of answer.

Nobody can ascertain when your Visas will come. It could be approved or denied. It's not a guarantee anyways. But you are not advised to buy flight, hotel tickets before the Visa is issued, what if you were refused?. You can only hope that it gets to you in time before the departure date.

Best wishes.

im wondering, you say not to buy ticket but the application asks you for a return ticket no?

You could make reservations or book on hold.
That's what I meant
it ask you to show a proof of travel. thats not a reservation or booking. you need to show a ticket of some sort. I dont know how a reservation or booking on hold provides you with a ticket you can put in your application

That's an itinerary then... if that's what you mean or they mean. All I'm trying to say is the VO or the embassy don't advise applicants to book tickets before hand they only ask or advise to make reservations or book on hold as to no one can ascertain whether you would be granted or refused. Be reminded that you are not entitled to a Visa it's at the VO's discretion to give who he/she deem fit.

Let's say you book tickets and after paying huge amounts for flight and hotel tickets, you don't meet the criteria for the VO to issue you a Visa, that means that money is lost. I hope you get my point now

No embassy tells applicants to book tickets before hand

Please remove all personal/private info on this thread, like your application numbers
Has removed application numbers and names from the original message but since you quoted the original text in your response, one can easily see them.

ok. i thought it was contradictary to as for proof of travel but at the same time discourage to do so. I just dont understand how its a proof if the ticket is not issued. when youi say reservations or book on hold are you referring to hotel?

Both hotel and flights tickets but flights in particular because it's the major means to transport to Canada.. As for hotel some can have relatives or close friends who resides in Canada
