Minister Kenny has created this problem. He changed the system which did not help. He introduced the list of professions in demand which is a bogus thing. I am in doubt people who immigrated under this system got job in their respective field. He needs to change the system further by not taking new applications. He is doing this by introducing capping. But the capping should 0 for all professions in the so called in demand. Therefore, he should declare that no more new applications till the backlog is cleared. And this is his only option. He will have to do this. He has no right to give away the applications in backlog.

You might want to check your facts. The Liberal Gov't lowered the points from 75 to 67 in 2003 in hopes of attracting Immigrant votes. When the points were at 75 the no. of applications and the visas issued in skilled worker nearly balanced, with no backlog. When the points were lowered CIC received over 500,000 applications in the next 5 years. The M1/M2 list are occupations that there actually may be jobs for in Canada. Those who applied prior may meet the points, but may not have the occupations that are in demand in Canada. If there are no demand for their skills, what work will they get?

I agree totally with you since there is such a high volume of applicants in the backlog. I really think they should put a hold on accepting any new applications regardless if they fall under the new proffesions they are claiming are in demand. I am totally against returning all the old applications as that would not totally solve the problem, as they already began processing them, CIC need to focus and clearing the backlog from pre 2008 then focus on the latter applications its only reasonable and fair. How can someone who applied in 2010 get through before persons that applied as far back as 2004.

I personally feel its best option that they should stop taking new applications for the time and seize out demanded occupations from backlog and return the files which they feel aren’t needed in canada. although it sounds bit harsh but I assume it’s far better options than keep them waiting for unlimited period.

I agree with you 110%.
But not sure why they are not doing that. They must have thought of it because it's an obvious choice. There must be a reason why.

Immigration is NOT A RIGHT just a privilege. So basically you and I are under the mercy of CIC. They can conjure up a reason to HOLD, REJECT, or RETURN our applications. Dont think that just becoz they started processing your application means that its already safe. and i dont think refund will be an issue with them.

If your application belongs to the family petition category, then backlog or not, i think it should be processed. However, for FSW and business categories, i think CIC should receive and prioritize newer applications that respond to economic factors and current market needs. I agree with CIC on this one.

also the list of occupations has been the result of numerous studies and CIC did not conjure it up out of nothing. calling it bogus is simply bitter and naive of you.

Their answer is you can apply again. Ridiculous.

I want to add one more fact..... many of my friends applied and got visa on NOC 4131. As per my knowledge, none of them are working on the same job category. In fact, they are not getting jobs in the applied category. Some of them have diverted into different jobs. In conclusion, on what basis or data, CIC has stopped taking new application in the category. Do they think that all 4131 applicants got jobs and there is no longer any jobs remained in the category. God knows CIC's policy.

All the best.

Why would he do that? Canada is making good revenue out of application fee. So, I think whatever they make policy, they won't stop accepting new application.

I agree with you. Never thought of that.

The fee of $550 + $490 doesn't pay for the cost of running the program.

if one applicant pay 1000 cd approx and total applicant 50000 approx the result amount is 50000000.50 million cd.Is this not enough money to run a good business for cic????????????????????

The so called "in-demand" job list is the biggest joke in this immigration processing.

To those of you who are suggesting that the backlog applicants may have the points but if there are no demand for their skills, what work will they get (in Canada)?

Well my answer to that is the same jobs the doctors, specialist physicians, psychologists, pharmacists, college teachers and university professors are doing in Canada.

Do you mean to say that you want your application NOC 4131 to be "seize-out and returned" to you as 4131 is no more in demand as per MI-3? And of-course it ends your wait too!!!

personally i don't feel nor desire of any changes to immigration system . Canada immigration never stopped completely ever. No clear evidence of closing of skilled worker permanently yet.so chill guys. wait for June 2012
