Hi All,

I am an Australian citizen and looking to migrate to Canada. Can any one please tell me what kind of process do I need to follow.

My skill set is in the NOC list.

Do I need to appear in IELTS Test?

How long does it take for Australian Citizens?

Thanks in advance.

Yes - you need to take an IELTS test

It takes the same amount of time as any other applicants - you can research about the general time frame for your NOC

You might want to read up on the new express entry system in CIC's website. Canadian immigration process is due for change starting Jan 1. The current NOC list will no longer be valid, and in fact there won't be any occupation list.

IELTS is a must for everybody, and if you don't have a Canadian education then assessment of your education from one of the approved assessment agency is also required.

If you are invited to apply for PR under the express entry system then the entire process will take about 6 months, but getting an invitation will be difficult without a job offer/provincial nomination.

GTA for professional fields i.e. accounting, finance, customer services etc

Calgary for i.e. engineering etc

wages/expenses and taxes are almost same all over. residences are expensive in GTA and BC while a bit lower in prairie provinces.

NOC was 0631, yes Sydney Australia, I applied in 2010, moved to Canada in 2013. A lot has changed since then, which is not relevant anymore.
