Hi There, I am planning to apply for Permanent Residence status in Canada, under the FSW, Is there anyone who can give advice whether to apply alone, or to apply in behalf of a consultant? ty very much for the suggestions. :)

Hi!

It depends on you if you want to apply by yourself or hire a Consultant. Based on our experience, we do not hire any Consultant. We just read carefully the guidelines in applying PR as FSW.

If you still want to hire a Consultant, better browse the net, and personally meet the Consultant so that you will know what are the procedures and fees they will charge you.

Hope this will help you. Cheers! :D

Hi,

If you dont have any issues with the consultant fees and you know some good trustworthy consultant you can hire them but most of the ppl on this forum are doing it by themselves to avoid paying heavy fees. The main problem with the consultant is that they are not trustworthy they dont tell you the truth and many ppl had a very bad experience with consultant. You can do it by yourself and ask as many questions as you like on this forum.

Cheers

For us, we opted not to hire a consultant.

From what I saw from friends who did hire one, they still gathered all the documents and filled up the forms. Only thing the consultant did for them is check if the forms are filled up properly and the supporting documents are complete. Then they send it to the Visa office for the friend. They also do follow ups on the friend's behalf. If these are the only things that a consultant will do for you andd then charge you CAD2,500, then I think it's not worth the money... just my humble opinion.

In our case we used a consultant, by the term itself dont be very expectant, or else you will be pissed, you hired them for consultations on what to do and what to gather. Our consultant did gave us instructions on what documents to submit and they were the ones who filled out the forms including the JD part in the application which is also based on the JDs that we submitted. They were the ones who checked the completeness of our papers and did the summary and mailing. You have to be vigilant however when it comes to the JD reviewer coz in our case we were delayed at that level. But as a whole everything was well taken cared.

Hi There guys, thank you so much for the suggestions and sharing your own experiences.
Actually I know somebody who is a consultant, but in most cases like mine, I haven't met the consultant personally. Though a friend was referred them to me. It's accepted that they're reliable because they are licensed Canadian Consultant based in Canada, but the main thing is they are asking for too much fees, where in fact coming from you, they don't really do a lot of things when it comes to your application. In the case that the consultant arranges my "job description", and since I only have 1 year work experience as of now, would it be a matter to the CIC when they review my application? Would it be a factor in approving my application?
I can read the website of canada immigration. But in addition to that please help me to know the steps in applying for the FSW category. Can somebody helpful enough on where I should get started? Thank you very much! :)

Hi,

CIC does not give any special consideration to those who applied through consultant so there will be no effect, below is the link to the thread which explains everything you need to know. If you still have any question just post it and we will be happy to answer you.

Hi,

I have hired a consultant and paid 60k for lousy service. All they did was give me a checklist and mail my docs to the embassy. BUt when the embassy asked additional requirements specific to my case they were not apply to answer my queries. All they did was ignore me. I was asking for guidance as to what to prepare etc for I had trouble in my spouse NBI remark etc and the embassy asked additional requirements, in the end I ended up asking our own lawyer who is not also familiar with the processing. Then when I turned into the forums for assistance they were able to give me specific answers. Just too bad I was able to send the docs already to the embassy. IF only I have known earlier, I could have submitted other docs for it was the last letter they will send me accdg to the embassy before they come up with a verdict on our case. Until now, no result yet from the embassy. SO stay away fro CIC cebu: consultant: initial R.A. If you opt for their service choose another consultant.

Thank you so much saki for that very helpful suggestion. I will thouroughly read about the link you have sent me. If I have further questions, please allow me to ask you more! cheers =)
I just want to ask, when did you submitted your application and what is the exact address of the London VO? In sending application to Visa Offices, are you entitled to choose where to submit it? or are there specific Visa offices designated to a particular location? Thanks again and Have a nice day!

Thank you casey for sharing your experience. Thanks for giving me an idea. Just a question, when did you submitted your application?

Hi theatan,

My application was accepted nov 2009, then my 120 days started. I passed all the complete requirement last jan this year 2010. But after that I had a series of letters from embassy requesting additional requirements. Last requirement sent last May, until now there is no response from the embassy :( Partly, I am still hoping for a positive outcome .

usually you can send an email to the Canadian Embassy in Manila to inquire about the status of your application and if you need to submit additional documents. do this if November 6 has passed and you do not hear from them still. here's the link:

https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=manila

you will need your immigraiton file number or client ID number and email address so they can reply to you.

I visited the site you posted but their seems to be a problem.. server error ang nakalagay eat should i do now??? tnx
