Hello Everyone

This is my first post here. I am going to apply under this category this week. But i have the following confusion:

I have been working in a school since 2006 as a Network Administrator. Looking after the networking of Computer Lab and other office systems, updating and maintaining school website, etc. are few of my job responsibilities.

My Educational Qualifications are:

1. B.Tech (Computer Science)
2. B.Ed (Bachelor of Education)
3. M.Ed (Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling)

My IELTS score is 7.5 (LISTENING: 8.5 , Reading: 7, Speaking: 7, Writing: 7.5)
Spouse's overall Score is 6

The WES report which will be delivered to me by Monday shows "Master of Education" as my topmost qualification.

So I am confused would I be able to get the points of MASTER's of EDUCATION or is it mandatory to have MASTER's IN COMPUTER SCIENCE only to get maximum points for applying under this category?

To put it in simple words, is a Master's Degree in any field (like in my case EDUCATION) would fetch maximum points or they will be looking for Masters Degree in Computer Science only to give maximum points?

Please also guide me what documents I need to get from my employer? Would a letter head from the school giving details of my job title and responsibilities will serve the purpose or do i need to attach salary slips or other documents? If any other documents are required then please list them.

Thanks.

You have read the WES report incorrectly.

Your degree must have been evaluated as "Equivalent" to Canadian Masters.

Any which way, your "field" of education is absolutely irrelevant. You will be getting full points for Masters (if that is what WES has evaluated) which is 23.

Job designations are irrelevant. You can use IT Administrator.

That is fine as well.

Make sure the answer to 12 a in the Economic Classes form is "Computer Network Technician" and the NOC is "2281".

Hi Guys, this is really an awesome thing you guys have got going..provides answers to a lot of queries already. Just finishing my paperwork and would be sending my file in first week of December (fingers crossed that I am not late ;) ) . I have a query though, my consultant tells me that the reference letters from the previous and present employers should be ORIGINAL as rest of the documents' (offer letter, relieving letter and experience letter) photocopies are being filed. I am slightly confused on this part, these days most of the companies either generate a soft copy or send a scanned copy of the letter in an email. Even I got the same from my previous and present employers. But when it comes to Original copies, does it mean that I have to get the hard copy of the reference letter from each employer? it becomes a bit tedious as I have worked in different cities and its not possible to reach out to every employer for the hard copy.
Also if I have the soft copies already, so do I attach a colored print out of it along with the email sent from the employer? i guess that should suffice the need of originality then? help me out guys..need you expert thoughts and comments :)

Hi Friends,

My form will be submitted by 05th December for NOC 2281.Do I still hold any chance.

Hi,

No need to send the originals just take color print out of reference letters and you can take a Attested true copy seal from a notary.

Saikat - do not "rely" on information passed on by consultants. CIC has provided documents for almost every queries that you have or the information that you seek.

Please go through CIC's document checklist in detail.

To answer your question - NO, you do not need original copies of Reference Letter(s). The only documents to be sent in original are the following:

- Police Clearance Certificate
- IELTS Report
- WES Report / ECA Report
- Affidavit (if any).

Attestation is not required for reference letters. A copy will suffice as long as it is on the Company Letterhead, which in itself is an attestation enough.

Hi,

Is the Police clearance certificate required for 3 months travel to USA ?

No PCC is only required if you stay 6 or more months in other country.

Thanks CIC...

I saw few comments from people that Visa office is requesting for PCC who ever travelled to Qatar even on tourist visa just for a month.

So thought of asking the experts regarding the same.
