Hi guys ..

Well I am in Canada right now for my master's in networking at Dalhousie univ,halifax ,NS ..
So I have a work ex of around 4.5 yes .... Can I apply for FSW Program .. And can someone list me docs which I need to submit and approx how much time it takes to prep that..
Also is it late to apply now .. I read cutoff is April 2015

If your NOC is 2281 then I would encourage you to apply. For the required documents, you have to review the FSW section on CIC's website.

You can get ECA done by any authorized body listed by CIC. Please check CIC website.

so i looked at the the wes site .., it seems one needs registrar attested copies of marksheets.. and right now since i am in canada it would be difficult.., is there any other option for me like college registrar attested copies instead of univ registar .. did any of the guys tried tht

Which credential and from what University are you trying to get assessed ?

Hi Guys
i can no longer find 2147 (Computer engineers ) on the Canadian eligible occupations which was the best fit for me, the only alternative I can find is 2281 computer network technicians.
My work experience was mainly customer technical support for 3 years then I moved to Network Design ( my current title is Technology Network Consultant)
I'm not sure if the 2281 would be eligible for me or not any idea ?

Hi, if you meant 2174, you can forget that NOC at this time. You're better off with 2281 as long as you can get a reference letter with the duties on it matching those stated on the NOC list up to 80%.

See the main duties for your attention;

Computer network technicians perform some or all of the following duties:

Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks, computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment

Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software, operating system software and software applications

Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks and to co-ordinate access and use of computer networks

Provide problem-solving services to network users

Install, maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade Web-server hardware and software

Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance

Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records

Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations

Conduct tests and perform security and quality controls

Control and monitor e-mail use, Web navigation, and installed software

Perform shell scripting or other basic scripting tasks

May supervise other workers in this group.

woow 80 %! don't think I can meet this as a technical support I only did some monitoring and troubleshooting on different kinds of network services and devices then my main practice as a tech consultant was WAN/ LAN design

I already have all documents ready to apply for NOC 2281, but IELTS. My exam is schedule for October 18, and as far as I could check, I would just receive the papers early November.

Do you guys think that are there still chances to apply on mid November? Cap today is 136 as per the CIC website, but I don't think there is a way to know what the backlog is currently standing.

I am a Software Automation Engineer, who has worked in different roles of Development, QA analyst, Software Automation and Consulting. I was thinking to apply towards NOC 2281 and thought to get a feedback for the same, from this great sub group. Thank you again for your time and effort in this regard.

a) Network Operations Engineer for a Major Telecom Company -1.8 years.
Responsibilities :
1) Perform Network monitoring.
2) Perform Network Troubleshooting.
3) Expansion and configuration of the Mobile Subscriber Databases.
4) System Support on Network Monitoring Software Application's operations.
5) Ensure 24/7 System availability and stability.
6) Perform Data Backups.
7) Monitor network traffic and provide feedback for improving the performance.

b) Research Engineer in Networking - A Networking Project at My university working 20 hrs per week for 8 months.
Responsibilities :
1) Network Requirement gathering and analysis.
2) Testbed Network topology analysis
3) Network Software Design and Development
4) Testing and Verification of the Network Testbed.

c) Software Engineer for 3.5 years working on
Responsibilities :
1) Network analysis and Customer Network Requirements.
2) Testing of common standards such as HTTP/HTTPS, XML-RPC, and SOAP.
