How many points do you have under EE?
Im not worried about points I have them around 455 but I'm more concerned about my question. I have an asylum pending in usa and I would like to know if I can still apply for canadian PR through Express entry ?

Yes - you can certainly apply. Just make sure you fully and accurately declare your immigration history in the application.

hi guys,
I'm in the same situation. Im in pending asylum since 2012.
I got Aor nov 2018 and hope for the best.
Recently I found out that my case was transferred to Montreal visa office which is notorious to take longer then 6 months in processing time. I wonder if its because of my USA asylum claim.

Do any of you with asylum claims in USA know which visa office is your EE application processed?

Thank you.

Hi guys any updates on your end ?
Hi
I just submitted my PR application. I don't have any update yet. But let's keep each other posted here. I think your application would be the first one to clear out of us all. Please keep us posted as your application status changes.
Did you do everything yourself or you hired someone for application?

Hi Sonu

Hi Garry and Mishka, I would like to be a part of this as I'm also in the same situation as I and my wife with 2 infants are stuck and need to apply for Express entry or Provincial nomination programme for Canada and we are stuck
Sorry for late reply.
If you have enough points you will definitely get an ITA. But i am still not 100% certain if they consider our status in US as legal or not. But i am taking my chances and i filled my PR application. I will definitely let you know once my application status updates.

I put together everything my self, and then I got a consultant on hourly base to review all my documents and my situation, before submitting. Consultant said that everything is fine, but you never know. Just hope it all works out.

Will keep posted.

Did you wrote a Letter of Explanation(LOE) for your whole situation? That's what the consultant suggested me in my case.

No, not in LOE.
I have put all the details in the Statutory questions. The one that asked about Have you ever applied for refugee in Canada or any other country.
I don't recall the exact question formulation.

I also ordered GCMS notes in Jan, and got it few weeks ago. And it says review required for my Statutory questions. Waiting for my second set of notes to see if there is any difference from the first one.

Hey , sorry for the late reply - I got logged out of a forum and weren’t receiving any emails for some reason . So, I’ve got biometrics request a month ago , submitted my fingerprints in one of the USCIS service centers - by the way they check your legal right to stay in the US before taking your fingerprints. Haven’t heard anything since then .

Hey Mishka

Got a quick question, did you fill the whole application yourself or you took help from an immigration lawyer/agent? Should i consider hiring an immigration agent or you think its best to proceed yourself?
Hey, sorry for a late reply ! I created EE profile myself , but I used consultant services for actual PR application. Not sure if it’s a good idea - in that case you won’t have access to your application and can only rely on consultant to keep you updated .

Yeah , you can apply indeed , you can see that all of us here did . Just keep in mind that you’ll have to land in Canada within a year of your medical exam (in case you get Canadian PR) , and won’t be able to come back to the US until you become Canadian citizen. Also, you’ll have to give your fingerprints in one of the USCIS offices - and they will check your eligibility to stay in the US ( work permit through asylum would work). And last thing is that you’ll have to provide police certificate from your own country and that depends
on your country consulate procedures.
