I got AOR in December 2013. So status is "app received"
Now I'm thinking of withdrawing the application.
Would I be able to get a refund?

I don't think they refund after AOR.

No. I withdrew my application and got no refund. I was informed by CIC that since my file has been created (AOR sent), I am not eligible for refund.
The withdrawal must be processed by CIC before sending the AOR in order to issue the refund.

:( oh well... I guess I will just continue with both streams then...

Thanks for responding!

Second that...

Btw when did you get AOR and when did you withdraw?

No you can not get your refund after AOR.
Once they issue AOR that means they have created file # for you and once you get your file #, they started processing your application. That's why Some people get their E-cas status as In process directly instead of application received. :)

They will generate the file # only after they will receive payment. So, if you have AOR (file #) then no way.

"Refund conditions
Fees paid will not be refunded for an application:

in process by CIC; or
approved or refused by CIC."

copied this from PAY YOUR FEES ONLINE...
...
Doesn't AOR mean "received (but not in process yet)"?
Any chance of refund? Its only been 1 month since I received AOR :(

AOR means that the application is in process. As others have said, you no longer qualify for a refund. To qualify for a refund, you would have had to have withdrawn the application before AOR.

Hello all ,
In my case I submitted my withdraw request on Dec 2 '13 but they charged my credit card on Dec 16. After deducting that fees, I haven't received any file # yet. I don't know why does it take so long as I have to reapply again. What should I do in this situation ?
Does anyone know that how long it takes to withdraw an application ?

Interestingly, how did you withdraw your appliucation without having AOR? Did officer looked up for youyr name and picked you from the pile?
Did you send email or call?

I called CIC and one of their representative told me to write an email with your client id and application request but I haven't received any response yet. I don't know this will work or not :'(
