Hi guys, I really need your help.
I'm planning to send in my PR application under Canadian Experience Class around next week.

The problem is.....My husband, who is a Canadian citizen, is being relocated to Singapore within 3 months from now!!!

I guess my question is... is it ok if I leave the country during the processing period?

I'm planning to come back to Canada for PR card later or even for Medical check...but we will be in Singapore for at least 3-5 years.

Any ideas anyone?

Thank you in advance for your help!!!!!

;D

Yes, you can leave, but...

You do not need to be in Canada for the medical exam, you can find a DMP in Singapore.

HOWEVER - there is a physical presence requirement to KEEP your PR status, and if you will be in Singapore that long, it may not even make sense to apply right now. So plan accordingly - you must be physically present in Canada for at least 2 out of 5 years to keep your PR status...

Thank you jes_ON for taking your valuable time to answer my questions.

I am actually aware of that physical presence requirement to keep the PR status. Does it make any difference that I'm in Singapore because my husband who is a citizen of Canada?

I have heard from someone that my PR status won't be lost since I'm married to a Canadian citizen who is relocated to another country by his company....Can anybody verify this?

Thank you!!! :)
