Hi everyone,

We are applying for permanent residency from within Canada through the Family Sponsorship program. I'm a November 22nd applicant and just wanted to confirm one thing about the medical exam. We didn't submit a medical with the application orginally and would like to get it done before CIC request it in hopes of moving the DM (Decision Made) through faster. Has anyone done this before? Is there a number CIC needs in order to submit it electronically so that it links to our application? Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I think you can do it. It is advised though that do medical before submission of application. When you do the medical they automatically send results to Canada. When they give you reciept you can mail it directly to CIC and make sure write your application number down. Yea I think you can do it.

if you applied inland, i would wait till you see processing within 3 months of your application. current processing is 17 months and rising. so it is not recommended to do medical at the time of application like it used to be.

My experience was to do the medical unsolicited and the doc couldn't find the UCI number in the system to connect it to but that was no issue as we just used the online form for communicating with the office with the application to send the info sheet (from the doc with the UMI number) as an attachment. Maybe two weeks later "medical results received" appeared on e-CAS.

Good day everyone! :) I have a next question :

I got an open work permit as a spouse on January 7, 2015 (the Pilot Project open Work permit for 2 years).
On condition #1 it says - Must report for medical observation and/or treatment. Medical forms mailed separately.
I didn't get any med forms in mail so I called CIC and they said give it a time. I called again later and then they said oh it is a mistake - you don`t need to do medical yet because you don't have a first stage approval yet! Case processing agent told me to send my work permit for amendment of Condition #1 to Ottawa which I did together with the form for amendment of documents. But what happened today is I got my work permit back and it is the same work permit and letter with it saying that they amend only mistakes like if last name or date of birth was misspelled and if I wish to change the conditions on my work permit I must complete the Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada with applicable fees and explanation letter detailing the error and send everything to Vegreville, Alberta.

I don`t want to pay again for work permit. Is it ok if I just keep this work permit with this Condition number 1!?
I also already did Canadian and American Visas based on this work permit and I work too. That Condition#1 about medical exam doesn`t bother me at all but I afraid if it will give me hard time when I travel abroad and back !? I did medical exam in Canada already but it was done more then year ago and I don`t mind doing it again but no forms yet mailed to me because I am not even first stage approved yet. I applied for PR as a spouse on September 9, 2014.

Thank you a lot for any help/advice!

Thank you very much everyone for your responses! This has definitely put our mind at ease! We have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow. :D

BrianDell, you mentioned you used the online form for communicating. Is this the online form you used (Case Specific Enquiry online form)?
secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx?_ga=1.164609279.1598874973.1424373888

Just wondering in case we need to go this route as well. Our file is at the CPC-Mississauga office.

I don't think you should have to pay for their mistake. I would imagine that just keeping your work permit with the condition 1 would be fine. If they need you to redo the medical they request that separately (and from other forum topics it looks like they have even been telling some to disregard the request for second medicals).

Good luck!

Just to let everyone know, we went to the office - performed the medical (before it was requested from us), and the doctor submitted it online.

Just to be sure it got there, we scanned in and submitted a copy of our emedical receipt with the UMI# via the Case Specific Enquiry form.

About 2.5 weeks later we saw e-cas change to 'Medical results received'.

About 1.5 weeks after that, we got DM!

Good luck everyone!
