I have applied under family class sponsorship for my son.

You have to wait for the medical to be requested.

My checklist (for spouse) says: "Do not complete a medical examination at this time. You will be issued medical instructions at an appropriate point in processing..." - what does your checklist say?

You cannot get the medical without the request from ircc
