Hi my girlfriend goes in for her medical check tomorrow. Starting at the end of August she was overwhelmed with school, career and a move. She started seeing a therapist once a week to help her make some decisions about career etc. She has been taking light doses of an anti depressant to help her with stress and being overwhelmed for about two weeks now. She is functioning totally fine other than that. She hasn't missed any work or school. We never really thought it would make a difference. Today when we talked about it we thought it might be a good idea to ask on here. It's not necessary that she even takes a medical it is just if she wants to get certain jobs but we don't want to her to be denied all together. Please help. Thanks

She doesn't need a medical. Only a police certificate with certified translation, passport copies, photo and resume. It's a waste of money to do the medical. In case she would need it, CIC would ask for it. But she won't need it

I just saw your other post. So you mentioned she might work in child care, a school or something similar? Yes, then she would need a medical. During the medical they check her blood, urine, do a chest XRay and do a simple medical check which only took about 2 minutes in my case. The doctor will ask her a few questions but I don't think seeing a therapist is a problem. CIC only makes sure that she isn't a threat for the Canadian population and health care system. They look for HIV etc.

Thanks Little Apple. Yes her first choice for work is in the media but she wants to have education as a backup. I was just thinking that therapists cost money. We don't want the CIC to look at that and think that she will need therapy and be a burden for the system.
