Can PR/spousal visa processing be put on hold if requested?

I am wondering if someone has any ideas or can help me with a suggestion. I got married in March this year in India. I put her PR application in Sept. The thing is that I have been contacted by someone who claims to be my wife's relative and wishes to be anonymous. I have been told that the marriage was not in good faith and that my wife is having an affair and her intent is to divorce me after she lands in canada. Even though I am skeptic but also alarmed. someone could be doing it out of jealousy or personal animosity or some other hidden agenda. OR on the other hand this might entirely be true. I have contacted my brother about this and he is arranging a private detective to look into this. It might take 6 to 8 months for a thorough and authentic investigation. I want to know if there is any way I can delay the visa process or have it put on hold until I get a report. My situation is so messed up, I can neither tell the visa office the real situation nor can I confront my wife with the facts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think there is an option to put "on hold", You can withdraw your application and submit it later whenever you feel you are comfortable. Depending on which country you plan to apply though, the stage 2 processing times will vary. If it takes more than 6-8 months for stage 2 to get done, then you can wait till then and then withdraw depending on the results of your investigation. If its less than 6 months and you are not 100% sure, then withdraw it and apply later. More experienced members will be able to assist you better.

this is too crazy... i thought you would know your wife more before marrying her.
it seems like you dont even trust or know much about her. you should cancel the sponsorship and More importantly before anything TRUST your wife first before getting married.

I feel bad for you. What a horrible situation to find yourself in. Your wife may have ulterior motives, but she might also be completely innocent and someone's trying to stir up trouble.
One thing you do have in your favor now is any new PR recipient is on a 2 year probation so supposedly at least, if she's just using you to get into Canada and then plans on splitting you can have her booted back out.

It could happen to anyone though and the distance makes things even more difficult. I'm glad he's aware now.

I don't think that applies to his case though ??? The new rule applies to new cases after October 23?

bholebabaji: I agree with 'achander'. If you would have applied after 25th October, 2012. The rule would have applied to your wife. The rule is simple. If you guys get 'divorced' for 'marriage of convenience', then easily could have complined to CIC and get her kicked outa Canada within 2 years of her landing. However, you have to be very smart to know the real truth.
