Hi

If you receive a T4A, then CIC won't consider it employment.

Hello PMM,
I am also post-doc and getting T4A. i have applied recently and received AOR. Waiting for Medicals!!
Do you have any suggestion to do something to avoid rejection?

Yes, I receive T4A only NOT T4 like many other postdocs receive T4A's only.

So if CIC doesnt consider T4A as work experience I have wasted a lot of time and money towards PR :(
Boven2012,
Did you applied GCMS notes? If yes, any updates regarding Eligibility?

Hello saruyashi,
Yes, my friend is a full time postdoc and receives only T4A.

I have graduated from a Canadian University and have 2 years of work exp but worried that CIC would reject my application based on T4A ???
Does anyone got their PR based on only T4A ?

For all your Information, people who sent T4A got approved and landed.

No, I havent applied for GCMS. I will wait for another month or so.

Guys, I think that this is not true. Just look at the eligibility criteria for CEC:

You need to meet these requirements to apply under the Canadian Experience Class. You must:

plan to live outside the province of Quebec
have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply,
have gained your experience in Canada with the proper authorization
meet the required language levels needed for your job for each language ability (speaking, reading, writing, and listening).

Skilled work experience

According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), skilled work experience means:

Managerial jobs (NOC skill type 0)
Professional jobs (NOC skill type A)
Technical jobs and skilled trades (NOC skill type B)

You must have at least 12 months of full-time, or an equal amount in part-time, skilled work experience. Full-time work means at least 30 hours of paid work per week.

So, where does it say that postdocs cannot apply for the CEC and the stipend is not considered as a income sourse???? Like others, we pay taxes, we work under the work permit, we are listed under the NOC 4011.

Thanks Anmed. Hopefully, all the post-docs will be okay with T4A.
Praying for everyone.

Exactly, you are right.
NOC codes for Post-docs is 4011
Need to complete PhD
We work under work permit
Pay tax for our Income, mentioned in T4A
As we are doing all the above, there is no reason to reject for T4A reason. Anyway, hope for the best.

Hi tulip_001
Are you sure about NOC 4011 for postdoc's??

Does all postdocs come under 4011 or NOC depends on their speciality of work and studies?

Hello all,

What i dont understand is why some people qulaify for CEC using T4A and some not ??

Does it depend on the work they do? That cant be true :-X

Yes, I have applied under this NOC. But some postdocs on this forum applied with other NOCs. I do not know if this matters.

I used my speciality NOC code of 2121, as mos tof the duties listed under 4011 doesnt apply to me.
Do you think this would create a problem?

What is written in your job offer? In mine, it is written that I am offered PDF position. So I thought that if I apply under different NOC, they might think that I have switched to different job duties, not the ones which are described under 4011. Since I've seen people on this forum applying under different NOC, this also seems acceptable.

I think it may depend on the type of funding. For example, if the project is industrial-based, you may receive T4, if it is funded NSERC, you may receive T4A. But this is just mine speculation.
