Can my wife extend her Open Work Visa Alone

My wife got an open work permit since I had a skilled work permit, but now I am going back to my home country since I dont find the job condition as very attractive in Toronto. However, my wife has got a job in Toronto as receptionist and she intends to stay here with her relatives. Our visa expires after 6 months. Can she extend her work visa alone even if I dont extend since I would not be here in Canada. Please suggest with possibilities to do the above. Thanks

Her open work permit is based on your skilled work permit. So the answer is no - she cannot extend her OWP if you don't extend.

However her employer can apply for a Labour Market Opinion (LMO). If that LMO is approved, she can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.

I don't know of any options other than the LMO. Maybe someone else will have something to suggest.
