Can I submit my father's bank statements instead of mine to apply for study permit?

Hi there,

I am planning to apply for study permit next week to pursue my bachelor degree. I have received CAD$12,000 scholarship from my university.

I do not have 4-months bank statement, because I have created my bank account back in 20 June 2018 (It's only been about 2 months). Plus, I do not have enough money in my bank account to cover both my tuition fees and additional CAD$10,000.

My father is paying all of my tuition fees, and he will continue to pay for it. I am wondering if I could provide his bank statements instead of mine, when applying for study permit? My father has already paid CAD$1000 of my tuition fee and deposit for school residence, about CAD$1,800.

Thank you so much

You can. Be sure to get a signed letter from him undertaking that he will be supporting the full brunt of your tuition and living expenses.

If you have worked for a long time, 3-5 years for example, it's better to upload your own bank statement as well. But if you have worked for a shorter time, and if you have less funds in your own account, then you do not need to upload yours.

I just showed my sponsor's bank statements and my visa was approved. However, I also uploaded an employment letter and my job offer letter to prove that I was employed. So you should show some proof that you were employed as well.
