Yes, you can. Even visitors to Canada can open bank accounts here.

it will also depend on the bank. not all banks let visitor's open accounts. it's usually best to go to the bank your spouse has an account at, and they will either let you open an account or add your name to your spouse's account.

TD bank will do it for you , you will need 2 pieces of Photo ID , i.e your passport and anything and driver's licence , Visa , Mastercard etc .
