My mother meets all the qualifications for the live in caregiver program and I want to hire her. Has anyone successfully hired their mother or another family member as a live in caregiver?

I have heard of someone who hired a niece as a live-in caregiver and I've heard from others that close relatives are often refused.

It is on you to show that your live-in caregiver meets the requirements with paid work experience as a live-in caregiver or a 6 month caregiver course and that your job offer is genuine and that you truly will be hiring the person to work for you, providing for her like any other employee and paying her a fair wage.

dear leon,

i have pasted a new subject maintaining pr. request your revert on the same,

bfrancis22: somewhere on this forum, I saw a post that girl hired her sister in order to be live-in caregiver for her kids ..when she got interviewed they did ask her " why is your sister hiring you? " and she answered that her sister trusts her, they speak the same language ( I think it was about the Spanish ) and that she can take care better for her nieces, instead of some strangers ..I'm not quite sure is this true or false, but hey, if you don't risk, you'll never know is that possible ..

My advice: go for it, you got nothing to lose, except some minor costs! :)

Best of luck,
