No. The employer needs an LMIA to hire you.I'm from the U.S . If I get a job offer from mcdonalds or Tim Hortons am I able to just get my work permit at the port of entry for these companies? I'm looking at newfoundland.
What's stopping them from getting one? They are already advertising all over the place and have ALOT of positions to fill that are not being filled.No. The employer needs an LMIA to hire you.
Rather than calling me naive why don't you tell me why not or HOW I'm wrong? What got you into Canada? If you are that naive, try and get one. We are only giving advice through experience.
The fact that the LMIA process takes 4-6 months, has strict requirements and costs the employer $1000 whether it's approved or not. You can certainly ask an employer to apply for an LMIA but be prepared for them to say no.What's stopping them from getting one? Ok then , this isn't your area of expertise. Have a nice day.A study permit. You are not going to get a work permit for McDonalds or Tim Hortons.
Can't they already have one while actively looking for employs?? Last I check labrador was running low.The fact that the LMIA process takes 4-6 months, has strict requirements and costs the employer $1000 whether it's approved or not. Tim Hortons would need to obtain an approved LMIA in order for you to qualify to apply for a closed work permit. Also how would Tim Hortons be hiring foreigners?? This place was actually recommended to me by my attorney. I expect him to be the expert. I was looking for others who have had the same experience. I will update when something happens.
Companies can apply for unnamed LMIAs but the fact that it costs $1000 and has no guarantee of approval means that most are not going to risk it when they don't even have a person to hire. Can't they already have one while actively looking for employs?? Last I check labrador was running low.
