Can I get a new work permit in the border immediately?

Hey guys,

I am currently on a closed work permit, but due to some unforeseen circumstances I got laid off last month which means I won't be able to work anywhere else until I get my work permit. I applied for my PR more than 8 months ago, so I am hoping it will come sometime in 3 months or so. My question is if I get another job can I go to the border and get another work permit immediately for the new employer?

My current close work permit is valid till June 2017, but that's useless since I can't use it to work anywhere else. This closed work permit thing is really frustrating, it makes things so complicated for us as well as the visa officers. Now I can apply for an open work permit using my file number but that won't come for another 4 months or so and if everything goes well by God's grace I should receive my PR even before that. My question is can I get another work permit now in border so that I can start working immediately?

No you cant get at border or even by online or paper. your new employer must have to do LMIA process as you are not stick with them
since your pnp process. first you have to inform pnp and federal then you have to do either LMIA excempt process ( for that you need
you provincial support which must be with new employer mentioned on letter)this process is really hard time taking n even not sure that
you will get proper positive response. The best option is stay home rather than make your case complicated.You are almost done. its matter
of 3 months which can be suffered. I might be wronge so correct me if i m. good luck.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I decided just to wait right now till my PR, like you said it might just complicate things more. Don't know why CIC makes these rules, the closed work permit is totally pointless.

Please people, what process is this for? I am just reading this now. Never heard of it before, hence my questions:
Question 1: You mean you can apply for work permit after being nominated by the province?
Question 2: Do you need to have job offer in Saskatchewan as part of your application to do this? I mean, what about people applying under OID stream (No job offer)?
Question 3: What type of work permit did you get? Open or closed?
