Hi friends,

I am BE Mechanical (India) and at present working in industry since about 3 years.I want to get admission in January 2015 intake. My questions are:

(1) Which discipline in (Masters) Mechanical Engg e.g Automobile,Machine Design,Fabrication,Fliud power etc is worth to choose with respect to job?

(2) What job one can get at Canada after Masters in Mech Engg completion? Does Industries at canada give more Preference /chances for masters than 2 year PG/Diploma programs? Industries at Canada prefer Masters?

(3) Which universities to be consider for admission?

(4) Does January intake have less courses/seats offer than September intake?

(5) What is the fees for international student?

Thanks.....

Here are some answers that you might be expecting. They are based on my personal opinion. The questions you asked are perhaps for someone who has already graduated in Canada and is working right now. Unfortunately it will be tough to find that kind of person here as most of them here are prospective students applying.

1) Masters stream mostly in your field are in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial and Automobile. I am not sure about the ones that you mentioned. They seem like some post grad diploma specialization. But maybe you might have specialization in masters depending on the program and university offering it. In terms of job: No idea.

2) Experience is all it counts in terms of job. But I think a masters graduate will be preferred over PGD. Do look for Co-Op options when selecting your program.

3) University selection is upon your eligibility. Go through this website to sort down the universities and the programs that they contain. www.aucc.ca . Go through the admission requirement. Get in touch with the program coordinator. And then apply

4) Yes. All university don't offer january intake and also not in all programs.

5) Fees vary a lot for MEng programs. The least I came across is University of Victoria which will cost around CAD 13-14K in total for 2 yrs.
