Hi all, I officially decided to give this express entry thing a shot last month. I am a Financial Analyst while my wife is a Marketing Manager. We are both doing the English Test this month, I have sent our documents to WES, the transcripts also got there this morning. I have read about New Brunswick monthly draw, and also Saskatchewan Profile still Opened. My question is as follows:
1. Is Nova Scotia still opened? (My occupation is on the demand list).
2. Can i apply separately and my wife separately our codes are both on the list and our occupations isn't regulated.
3. My wife has a cousin in Manitoba, and a friend in Saskatchewan, so she wants to apply to the two provinces while i apply to New Brunswick and nova Scotia.
4. We are both less than 35 years and have 7 years work experience each?
5. I have Bsc in Finance and also a one off certificate in ifrs by acca, but i sent only my transcript for bsc, do i need to send the certificate in ifrs to get more points. My wife hasnot finished her masters but she has a certificate of achievement in one of the courses by a university in france(online module), can she get more points too for that?
5. Is our profile viable?.

Thank you all, God bless you as u answer me in advance (lol)

1. Not sure. Apply and find out.
http://novascotiaimmigration.com/move-here/nova-scotia-demand-express-entry/

2. yes. You will both need to declare that you're married and spouse isn't accompanying you. You will get scores based on having a spouse.

3.Is this a question?

4. I don't know what you're asking.

5. you won't get more points for the certificate. Your wife will not get any points for the achievement cert.

6. Depends on your English scores.

Wouldn't you be able to get more points if you add your spouse on your application, since you already have to declare you are married? It seems like you both have good education, good experience... wouldn't applying together give you a better score?
This is just my thinking - I might be completely wrong. Please someone with more experience, weigh in on this.

Let me give a brief history about how the thought of applying separately came in. I have both experience as an Accountant and a Financial Analyst, but i read that an Accountant is a regulated a profession, i will need to contact the CPA, and get assessment. My Spouse is better with English, she has always been scoring high in other tests not IETLS, and making her the principal applicant, her profession is not in demand in Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan, and she had a very good undergraduate degree. so i decided to get wes evaluation since my profession is in demand in all provinces.

I guess i will be the principal applicant, and then apply to Newbrunswick first. Except i get information or advises from experienced people, someone on another thread said if we both apply we have to state that we are not accompanying each other

Being married and NOT declaring that status is misrepresentation. So there are 2 options.

1. Say Yes to the question "Is your spouse accompanying you?". In this case the maximum points you can get are 560/600 and your spouse can add 40/600 if you get their IELTS (up to 20 points) and ECA (up to 10 points) done and if they have Canadian work experience ( up to 10 points). Naturally, this would put you at a disadvantage when compared with single applicants because they are likely to score more than you ceteris paribus. But this option allows you to bring your spouse along to Canada when you get your PR.

2. Say No to the question "Is your spouse accompanying you?". In this case, you can get the maximum of 600 on your own because the system won't consider your spouse as part of the application for all practical purposes. This might seem attractive till you consider that this will allow only you to travel to Canada and you'll have to then apply for spousal sponsorship which can take 12-24 months depending on a lot of factors.

Husband and Wife can create 2 independent EE profiles with each of them as the PA and the other spouse included but it is an exercise in futility except if you're using the 2 profiles to apply to 2 distinct immigration programs across provinces. If not, then you should instead calculate which profile gives you the highest points and create just that 1 profile.

Your decision eventually. All the best!

When you say apply to 2 distinct immigration programs across provinces, does it mean having EE profiles and applying to different provinces like i apply to nova scotia and she applies to newbrunswick?

Exactly that. If the eligibility criteria of a particular province are loaded towards a profile where your spouse is the PA and for another province it is the opposite, that is the precise scenario where having 2 EE profiles for the same couple would make sense. You would use either of the profile to apply to the respective PNP.

And the meta question of "Should I include my spouse in my application or not" was answered in those 2 options earlier.

Hope that clarifies. All the best!

I hope to update my statistics soon. Has anybody filed express entry for a regulated profession like accountant, because even if the body assesses the transcript, an international accountant will still have to do one or two courses, how did it go?
