I have a friend, let's call him A for now.

He was an international student, but he dropped from school when he was third year in a local university because he found a good business idea and became a millionaire.
He couldn't get a off-campus work permit neither a post graduate work permit(he didn't finish his school). But he wants to stay in Canada to continue his business.

However, his wife, B, is still an international student who is studying in local university as well. But her study permit will get expired soon so she needs to extend her permit. When she extend her permit online, the website will ask if she wants to bring her spouse to Canada as well.

So A was wondering if he could apply for a visitor visa and then apply for a work permit.

If yes, what are the procedures(A is still living in Canada with his study permit and visa. but will be expired in couple of months)? Does he need to restore his status in Canada from student to visitor?

If no, what options does he have right now?

Many thanks in advance guys.

I actually found this

Help your spouse or common-law partner work in Canada
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp

But does he need to restore his student status first when his wife extend her visa?
