About an international high school student

Hi there,

I have a question about an international high school student who is holding the Study permit at this moment

1. Can he apply for a work permit separately in order to get a part time job?
(Which the Study permit said NOT allow to work)

2.Due to the student is being here in Canada in the 2nd semester (Jan 2023), and his permit is expired in April 2024.
When is the best time to renew the study permit?
Does he need to do the medical test, and all the paper work like custodianship?
For sure he needs to proof the financial, right?

1. No. Secondary students cannot work.
2. Renew 3 months prior. Needs proof, renew custodianship just in case. Wait if there is a medical request but should not need one.
