I have a question. I am Planning to settle in Calgary or Toronto in feb or march. The question is regarding the maintenance fee of condo. is it included in the rent or we have to pay it other than rent? and how much is the monthly fee of two bed condo? because I have seen on certain websites that maint. fee is arond 500 to 9oo cad $.

I have a +10 years experiance in marketing agri products like vegetable seeds. is there any scope of getting job in agri sector of calgary.
Please need your guidance.

It depends. Sometimes it's included and sometimes not. Read the ad carefully.

For most of the apartments / condos: the water, electricity and heat charges are included in the rent. Also electric stove and fridge is provided. However, check the details with the owner / managing company before finalizing.

Hi everyone, I am planning to land in April '16 but given the current job market scenario due to slowdown, I am considering only a validation landing. Can anyone please share their views on the following:

1. How long should I plan the trip...will a short 1-week trip be enough to complete basic formalities like open bank a/c, SIN, Health card registration ?

2. Since my landing trip will be a short one, I won't have any Goods-to-follow. Will I get the benefit of tax exemption on Goods To Follow when I migrate permanently later on ?

3. Is it worth to stay for 2 weeks and meet some recruiting firms & job agents during my landing visit in April'16 ?

Please share your thoughts.

Hi,

We are planning to land in Calgary next year May 2016. I have 10 years of experience in veterinary industry. Do you think I can find jobs related to my experience in Calgary? Thanks a lot.

Hi All !

Due to low prices in crude oil, Canada economy is not doing well for the last 1 year.

How is the current job market for new immigrants in Calgary. Lot of layoffs are happening across canada, what could be the status in 2016.

Any inputs pl.

Canada economy is very bad now, no job available in the market due to low oil prices. I came back to India last year after layoff from my company. Looks like it will not improve in 2016. Let us hope for the best.

Then without jobs, how will you feed your family? Btw, isn't Walmart is replacing Target stores and hiring people across the country?

What about Engineering jobs?

Engineering jobs are less and also highly competitive to get.

Oil and gas sector jobs are badly affected and may need some good time to be back on track.

In present conditions, what could be the survival chance of an average immigrant in calgary, if he lands today... atleast for a year from now?
