No, sadly I am not that lucky : ( Our status hasn't changed yet, I'm just wondering if they will send my husband an email when it does, or if we just have to keep checking E-CAS - which is such a stressful process! We hate getting our hopes up only to see the same two words staring back at us.

I'm guessing that we have another 2 or 3 months to go, based on other ppl's timelines for straightforward male sponsorships.

I can answer your question:
There is no consistency in CIC work and that includes this. I can tell you based on readings on this forum; some cases get notified then it changes to "in process"...others change,...other did not change and it went straight from "application received" to them asking for passport and decision made...in brief it's CIC there is no rule
Based on Cairo cases readings it mostly changes after their contacting the applicant...
That is for your question, I am sure you do not have to check the status of your application since they have to contact you. You are not expected to know critical decisions by following up online "I can tell you" and as the approval letter said...You will be contacted
I cannot tell you to stop checking and staring at the online status wish it would change...since I cannot stop myself from doing that either!

I am so pissed off my CIC's letter of approval stated Cairo, to find out my file was transfered to Ottawa then to check with several agents all confirm my file was transfered to Ottawa...I have sent Ottawa and Cairo several emails without a response!! CIC agent told me the file is in Ottawa another agent told me we cannot tell if it was sent from Ottawa to Cairo!!! This is a disaster...Not sure if my file is lost or what!!
I am not sure how did you estimate 2 to 3 months, according to candab timeline, our files should be in Cairo!

Alhumdullah I arrived canada already 3 days ago
I had an issue with military but just to let everyone know that they can leave egypt easy with Normal Military Permit ,
and it doesnt matter if you obtain Immigration permit.
they didn't even look at my visa In Immigration Egypt.

I can answer your question:

later they sent me an email requesting an interview
later i found in E- case they wrote interview scheduled in October 17 ,2012
and you also right totally right because Cairo visa office does not have any Principles and rules nothing
sometimes you can find them so good and decent and sometimes they so awful
oh i cant forget some one here said they called her husband to investigate him for some information about their marriage so they can avoid interview oh wow i thought that may be can happen in London visa office hahaha
i dare everybody here talk to call center in Cairo visa office to tell us about their horrible experience with that Lady who always answering if you choose Arabic to talk hahaha
but in end i agree with you the majority of cases they dont change ecase until they contact the applicant

don't worry
although staring on your online status won't help I cannot help but to stare
(let me rephrase what I said) you won't miss a thing by not checking the online status since this is not a formal way of communication with CIC

Your case is very normal, it is like my case. So no need to worry at all. "I believe this phase is when the cases are left to collect some dust and dirt!"

ShamsuAnnahr stated that her case did not change and still says "application received" so I believe your is like hers as well.
we wish for fast processing whatever the online status says hopefully it will be finalized soon without even going through these different phases!!

hey body dont worry your time is so close it just depend on if they start already your security check and background check and criminality check and if its done or not then they will start review your file but hey did you what i asked you do

but i saw in my CAIPS that the pilot requested interview since Feb 28 ,2012 and they sent my file from Ottawa to Cairo in end of March so Cairo visa office started the following background check or security check i dont why it took that long until they contact me may be i think that my medical was expired and i had to redo anew one
i think you wont take more than couple month and may be less than that
and to waive the interview do what i asked you to do it will help so good

you also need to know with Cairo visa office they dont start any movement belongs to in process before they start and finish your background check security check and all this checks
so be patient

Mine changed since May ... this is CIC rule is "there is no rule"
