I am an American applying for PR outland, yet living in Alberta, Canada. I submitted the CAIPS notes request by faxing in my request, and I received my information back in approximately 3 weeks. Faxed requests are handled by their Fast Track Unit, so it is advisable if you do not need to send in a fee to do it this way. I see no reason to pay extra for this service or to hire a company to do it for you, the form is very simple to fill out and if you can fax it in, you can ge tyour information back without too much trouble. I accompanied my form, with a copy of the information page of my passport and my drivers license per the instructions.

If you are not in Canada, but your spouse is, they can put this request for you, but be sure to include the permission to release your records.

If anyone is not sure how to do this, I can look up the form/etc that I used.

Just don't give up. If you feel time is running short, call the office and explain your desperate situation to them and maybe you will get the same luck like we did.

Thanks for the advise, after much persistence, they (ATIP dept at CIC) decided that they would try to fast track my request in time for me to fly off to India to meet my husband for the interview. The lady was very understanding with the fact I did not want to go into that interview blind.

Really, I think you shouldn't be afraid or prepared for an interview if you have nothing to worry about! If the relationship is genuine and you didn't lie on any parts of the application, they just want to see you. Bring some extra proof since your application was submitted.

I really don't understand why everyone is so paranoid. Relationship genuine, you'll be approved. If everything was skimpy, marriage, honeymoon, meeting each others family, etc...Then maybe at that time you can be paranoid.

Well according to caipsnotes.com, my order is 99% complete. I should have CAIPS back any day now.

Of course, there's the other guy who's been at 100% for several weeks, and still not heard anything.

I think it is less about being paranoid as it is about being stress. And it's so much better to know what to expect and be as prepared as possible then to be blind-sided. Part of a problem is underestimating what others think is genuine compared to your own views. What is apparent to one person is not always to the other.

We emailed Caipsnotes.com about our notes and this is what we got as answer:
"CIC is very backlogged and they are expecting to mail your file to us
on March 28th. We apologize for the delay and will deliver the file to
you as soon as we get it. In the meantime please feel free to contact
us again"

We applied for the notes On Jan 4.

I just received my confirmation from CIC-ATIP department that they started treating my request on March 09. They said they are committed to getting info to you by 30 days, unless you have a huge files that take a bit longer.

Well that sucks. So much for having something to look forward to. I guess Buffalo isn't the only office that's fail.

Mississauga, on the other hand, cranks out EVERY application within 30 days. What the hell is that all about? Why can Mississauga do such a good job, while other CIC-offices fail?

CPC-M is of course only concerned about the sponsorship side of things. They don't look at half the paperwork that is submitted. If you look there are very few documents submitted that are actually for the sponsor. When I called about something, they litterally said "Oh we dont care about that, it will be looked at in the VO" so they dont look at the proofs are anything. They look to see if you are not on welfare, are married (in case of spousal) and basically you havent done anything criminally to make you inadmissible to sponsor. Then they fire it off. In actual fact, if it didn't take them 1 month to open your postal package, sponsorship actually takes 1 to 2 days max to approve.

I applied for CAIPS notes at the end of January (through a company). Got them a few days ago. They were so general as to be unhelpful.

Still, it is better to be prepared; at least we know there is nothing specific that warranted an interview (scheduled for early April).

My wife is pretty sanguine about the interview, saying that all she has to do is tell the truth, and the truth about our relationship will be clear. Perhaps, but she hasn't read the horror stories told in this forum about downright rude and prejudiced visa officers. If a VO takes the position that it is his or her job to try to discredit the applicant, to impugn the relationship or the applicant's motives for marrying, there is really no amount of documentation that will convince a skeptic. Got a marriage certificate?; then it must be false. Oh, the certificate is valid?; then you must have married just for the visa. Been together for several years?; well that doesn't prove anything; you must be prepared to go through Hell for the visa. Etc etc.

So, doing as much preparation as you can manage is wise.

My CaipsNotes.com order now says "Any day now", as opposed to 100%.

So yeah... CIC is definitely behind on things.

I'm still hoping for PPR well before CAIPS.

Hello,

Just giving an update.
We received the CAIPS notes last week. Nothing special in them.

Does anyone know what "POV sent" mean in CAIPS notes?

Hubby went into the interview blind :'( We did not have a clue about the inetrview and of what it would entail. I hired a rep to do the sponsorship paperwork as I was not well enough at the time to do it.She never ordered these caips notes that I am reading about prior to hubby's interview. Never knew you were supposed to? It would have been nice if she had so hubby could prepare for the interview. If he had he would have been here. I asked the rep after why she did not order the caips notes before hubby's interview. She said she only orders them after the refusal of a visa after the interview??? Huh??? :'( :o I did not know any better and said oh ok then. Had no clue about the interview at all.It was a complete surprise to both of us. The rep never really explained very well about what entails at an interview. She just said oh just a few questions about your relationship together and that is it. It was after when hubby recieved notice for an interview from the rep that she said oh they think your relationship is not genuine and therfore an inteview is needed. I thought what huh??? Why would she not mention this before the interview or why did she not order the caips notes and guide us so we could prepare? We had almost 10 years together :o :'( >:( We thought hubby would go to the visa office answer a few questions about instructions of his visa Canada landing etc and that was all. :'( Hubby was there for almost 4 horrific hours and was led to believe he was getting his visa. >:(A very horrible experience for hubby. Now I am waiting for an appeal spent so much money I don't have to get hubby here. I have so much debt it is just crazy :o ??? :(.I pray I win the appeal :'( :( :( :(What a nightmare :'( :'(
