Awesome, congratulations bro!
I have one question though!

In the website CIC says they are working on the applications that were received on July 9th (same employer) July 28th (New Employer) Paper based and July 12 for Online.
How come they have processed your application first as you have submitted your application on Aug 20th ? ofcourse it is a good news for you and happy for you.

I have also submitted my application on Aug 20th, 2015. I wish mine was processed as well, as I have to travel soon :-(

You can't apply for BOWP at port of entry.

Honestly, I don't know the answers to your questions. What I know is, I applied online and my wife was on the same application. And this permit is the second BOWP, since the first one expired. I don't know if those would affect anything.

Sir, Madam,

Thank you for contacting Citizenship and Immigration Canada. I am pleased to follow up on your request:

Bridging open work permit - Certain federal economic class applicants

You can apply for an open work permit if you:

Have applied for permanent residence (PR) in Canada under one of the admissible categories of the economic class and are the principal applicant,
Have received a positive eligibility assessment on your PR application or, if applicable, the Acknowledgment of Receipt from the processing office,
Are currently in Canada, and
Already have a valid work permit that is due to expire within 4 months.
For information on the admissible categories, please visit our website.

To apply for an open work permit, you must send an Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay as a Worker to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, Alberta.

You must do this before your work permit expires. You keep your current status under the same conditions, until a decision is made (implied status).

The application is available on our website.

Visit our website to see how long it may take to process your application.

Work permit - Applying at a port of entry

Generally, if you want to work in Canada, you must apply for a work permit (WP) at a Canadian visa office or online before entering the country.

As an exception, you can apply for a WP at the time you enter Canada if you:

Are exempt from the requirement to obtain a temporary resident visa, and
do not need an Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), or
have a LMIA from ESDC.
To find the port of entry closest to you which offers immigration services, please visit the Canada Border Service’s website.

An officer will ask you questions to make sure that you meet all the requirements before allowing you to enter Canada. You will not need to fill out an application form; however you must bring the following documents with you:

Payment of $155*,
(If applicable) Additional payment of $100 for open WP applicants,
Job offer or contract,
LMIA or proof that you do not need one,
(If applicable) A copy of the Offer of Employment to a Foreign National Exempt from a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) form (IMM 5802) including the proof of payment by the employer (fee receipt number),
Proof that you have the required qualifications and experience,
Valid passport/Travel document**,
Certificat d'acceptation du Québec given by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI), if you want to work in the province of Quebec.
Note: If you applied for a WP before entering Canada and you received a letter of introduction from the visa office stating that your application was approved, you must present this letter at the port of entry so that your permit can be issued.

*Ports of Entry accept cash (Canadian and American currency), credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express), money order, traveller’s cheque and certified cheques made out to the Receiver General of Canada.

**Citizens and permanent residents of the United States, St. Pierre and Miquelon, and Greenland do not require a passport. However, they do require proof of status and citizenship, such as a birth certificate, national identity card or an alien registration card.

guys, how come it is so silent out here! any BOWP for the month of Aug that got processed?

Today my BOWP application changed to 'updated' in MyCIC. Here is my timeline:

August 31 - Applied online
Sept 30 - 'There have been no updates to your application' email
Oct 30 - 'There have been no updates to your application' email
Nov 5 - 'Your application has been updated' email
Nov 12 - Request for Alberta AOR (still no idea why they asked me for this since I'm CEC applicant and not PNP)
Nov 12 - Sent CIO AOR with explanation letter that I don't have an Alberta AOR
Nov 27 - Status changed to 'updated' but no apparent updates yet (I expect I'll get the email sometime today regarding application being updated)

Hoping this is approved soon as I want to book international travel! Current permit expires at the end of the year.

I have received 'Your application has been updated' email last. Immediately I have logged in to check my application status and I saw 'updated' status. But that status been changed to Submitted status next day. I don't why that happened?

Is that common thing?

Yep. Once you go into your application it changes from updated back to submitted.

My theory is there is a back-end update (such as the application was moved into another stage within CIC that we can't see). I received a request for more information email just 1 week after my last 'updated' status change. I hope I get approval within the next week after my updated status today.
