I have a question about plane tickets. I have heard some people say that it is important to buy return tickets before you submit your application. The problem is that all of the tickets I see for sale are non-refundable. Do people REALLY buy tickets on the hope that they will get a trv?

That's a myth.

People can be refused a visa even they have a plane ticket purchased.

How likely is it for a visitior visa to be approved if there is no return ticket?

But what do you do if you buy a ticket and the visa is refused? You just lose your ticket? Doesn't make much sense.

Youa re confusing TWO separate things.
1. "Visa for entry" is issued by VO based on your application and documents proviede. NO need in tickets at that time
2. "Visa to stay in Canada" issued by a border officer at Port of entry (POE)- you need to provide a return ticket.

That's what I thought. Because to the visa officer it's obvious you will need a ticket to enter the country. The only country you can enter from in a car is the U.S. and Americans don't need a visa. Also most airlines won't allow you on the plane to Canada without a return ticket.

But there are others nationalities living in the US (not only Americans) and travel by car to Canada. They do not need a return ticket for exiting Canada. Especially for super visa holders, airlines would allow them to travel on plane to Canada without a return ticket.

My point is why would a vo care if you already had a ticket? if you were given a visa but didn't have your ticket yet you would eventually need to buy one or you couldn't enter the country from mexico especially since my wife doesn't have a u.s. visa. the visa would be useless to her withour buying a return ticket. but it makes no sense to buy the ticket before getting the visa because if the visa is not issued the ticket would be garbage.

You should just show an itinerary prior to sending your application for visitor visa, you only need to buy return tickets after you are approved, at which point, when you arrive in Canada, the customs officer will expect to see you have a return ticket.

Does the itinerary have to be for each day of the trip or just a general idea of what you want to do or see?

Depends on your proposed length of stay. If you're planning to stay 3 weeks, show an itinerary starting from the day you plan to travel to the day you leave, total length should be 3 weeks. Make your ticket refundable/changeable so that in the event the officer gives you an extended period of stay, you can change your departure date to later.

Another question I have is about sending photos. Do you just upload them from your computer or camera or do you have to print them and scan them?

You should scan them, they'll be more detailed, unless you're really good with your camera. As for your job, that's good you have to go back for your job, because that shows ties to your country and will make it easier for you to get TRV.
