Yes, Ontario offers the Entrepreneur Stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), which allows individuals to buy a business and work toward permanent residency. To qualify, you need business experience, a substantial investment, and must create jobs for Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Industries like technology, manufacturing, or healthcare may be more favorable, but any viable business can be considered. Be sure to check the OINP website or consult an immigration expert for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
What are you talking about.

Entrepreneur Stream closing
Following the pause on accepting Entrepreneur Stream applications that took effect on December 4, 2023, we are implementing amendments to the program to wind-down and close the stream.

You can read the amended regulations on e-Laws:

All Entrepreneur Stream applications currently in process will continue in accordance with the updated regulations. Under the updated regulations, current applicants may be eligible for a nomination for permanent residence based on the commitments they have made to establish their business in Ontario.

We will contact all current applicants to the Entrepreneur Stream, and their authorized representatives, in the coming days with more information and next steps regarding their applications.

Hello,

I will be seeing a lawyer soon, but i'd like to get as much information as I can before I do.

I have an internet business currently making around $200,000 in profit a year and would like to move it to Canada, and become a citizen myself. The business doesn't deal with anything physical and I am the only person involved in the business. I would like to do this because Canada is a desirable place to live.

What are the requirements / processes needed to do this?
Do you have a specific province in mind? That will make a difference in what options are available to you. I believe every entrepreneur stream requires at least some job creation for Canadians... you and your family do not count. Generally speaking, you need to show that your business will be a benefit to Canada in at least one of these ways but the more, the better:

Job Creation: Propose to create new employment opportunities for Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Economic Contribution: Show significant investment in Canada’s economy, including capital injection or partnerships with Canadian businesses.

Innovative Value: Introduce innovative products, services, or processes that contribute to Canada's competitiveness or knowledge economy.

Cultural Contributions: Develop or support initiatives that enhance Canada's cultural landscape, especially in creative or artistic industries.

Regional Development: Contribute to the economic growth of underserved or rural regions in Canada.

Industry Support: Align with and support industries prioritized by Canada, such as technology, clean energy, or healthcare.

Export Potential: Increase Canada’s export potential by developing international markets for Canadian goods or services.
