Visa offices were waiting for procedural / admin instructions until Jan 2009 on how to process FSW appls transferred from CIO. This must have caused a back log at Buffalo.

3) When can I start processing C‑50 cases?

As the Delegations of Authority have been signed, you may in principle process eligible C‑50 cases towards completion immediately. However, it is only with the next release of CAIPS, due mid-January, that your mission will be able to open cases transferred from the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) in Sydney to your mission. Specific instructions including tools will be sent in the first week of January for cases that do not appear to be eligible.

Buffalo has lots of applicants. There are applicants from all over the world living in CA and US. In fact, there might be a lot Indian applicants at Buffalo even compared to ND because of the economic downturn and H1B visa holders looking for a economic safe place. But this might change with things going slow at Buffalo.

This page on CIC's website has a play by play description of how files are handled at CIO and at local visa offices.

Its a good read if you are a stickler for details.

Hi Reshma,

under which code did you apply? since you have raised this question I presume you applied in Buffalo, I applied in Buffalo on 19th June and completed my Medicals in June and sent RPRF in July first week and waiting for PPR. You should send an e-mail and check on your status. I have seen in the forums where mails have been misplaced and candidates have got in touch to get a response and submit the required documents again, do not wait as there are timeframes for each stage.

Thanks for your update, Rupesh! It is indeed scary to see the fastest embassy turning to the slowest... :(

I understand your concern regarding employment. But even in my humanities field (very tough on academic jobs, you know :)) I have seen grads from US schools being offered tenure track at my Canadian uni regardless of their passport and despite the usual warning that "Canadians and permanent residents are given priority". So as soon as you have an impeccable CV and publications you should not worry too much about starting on work permit. I suggest you go for that conference anyway!

you must have a one of these
1) have at least one year on a job list in the list of 38.
2) have an AEO
3) lived in canada for at least a year

If 0122 is mentioned in that list of 38, then you can apply. If it is not listed there, then you should look to see if one of your past jobs in the last 10 years fit any of the jobs in the list of 38, have lived in canada or have a job offer.

If not, then look at PNP or CSQ.

BTW, rupeshhari..
As for job hunting...I am looking for a faculty position in Canada myself, and for my experience Canadian universities tend to be SO slow with processing of applications of potential new assistant professors...
It is important to send your application as soon as possible and not to wait for the application deadline, as I have seen more than once that they start processing applications of promising candidates before the official deadline.
The priority for "Canadians or permanent residents" is real in respect that you cannot be the first candidate that they interview for the specific position.

Hopefully, we are not in the same field and are not sending applications to the same places...lol...:).

if you applied before feb 2008 (not sure of the cutoff date), you will get processed as long as you have 67 points and one year of work experience in skill type 0,A or B
