Whether your employer had applied for your LMO or not, you will go on a "implied status" if you will not get a decision on your application for a new work permit before your current one expires. The implied status lasts until CIC decides on your new permit application. However, you must respect the following requirements. You can keep working under the same conditions as your existing permit unless you have applied to extend your stay under another category.leodelg said:That is correct. However, this exemption was brought in as of 15 December 2012 and my employer applied for the LMO in November 2012; before this exemption was implemented. I applied for a new work permit under this exemption on 19 December 2012. According to the CIC call center, as of 07 January 2013, CIC was processing work permit applications received on 10 October 2012. This means that I will not get a new work permit before my current one expires; and I go in "implied status".
My employer has not retracted the LMO application in the hope that the LMO would be approved before my current one expires and that I wouldn't have to go into implied status.
