FYI the MP is Member Of Parliament and they do have direct contact with any branch of the Canadian Government that includes CIC
i contacted my MP on a friday and got news from my case the following monday

Use this link to find your local MP.

and send them a mail and they will respond to you and will ask you to meet them
in mail..send your home address too..

I applied to Buffalo in July 2011 and medical results were updated and received on the website in Dec 2011/Jan 2012.
How do i find out, where is my file now?
Is it at Buffalo, L.A, Ottawa, NY ??
The processing time went from 13 months to 14 months and now to 16 months.
For me it has been 14 months as of today.

Can anyone please guide me on how to get an update in which center my file is.

if you are in Canada. contact your MP to request for CAIPS notes to see where it is..

first email to them with your residence address and give them a brief description of your situation.
try to provide your name and PR application number and the current status of your file if know

I got my csq in 2011 and applied for fedral under FSW in july 2011.
I have an MBA in marketing and finance at concordia university.
Specialization in business analysis from mcgill university.

I have been working for 2-1/2 years in Montreal.
Total work experience abt 5 yrs.
On the portal it says
"application has been recieved"
"medical results have been recieved"

at least you got medical request and done your test. I have been waiting for medicals from the past 15 months.
and even I do not know where my file is.

I am also working in Canada from the past 2 -1/2 years and got 13 years of experiences in telecom domain.
but still nothing positive from them.

Initially i thought they may dealy processing for people who are already in Canada. but that is not true. people who applied at the same time lines as mine got PPR. that makes me panic.

i guess due to my name I am stuck in background check....hope yours is not same as mine

as Ottawa is not responding to our mails the best option to know the update is to get your CAPIS notes or contact MP.

Same contact everyone has to any branch of gov't. BTW, I live in Canada.

i contacted my MP on a friday and got news from my case the following monday

And so? Is it different from "in process" or "you will hear from CIC" in so and so months? While the wait can be frustrating do not think that the frequency of enquiries or persons making the enquiries will change timelines. Let me re-state my point here again, even your VO doesn't know when your application is going to be finished until when it's finished. They can only give timelines which have been very unpredictable and ridiculous in recent times.

Really, yeah i was checking your timelines and it was wierd to c that you have not been asked for a medical....
AS for the background check, i already had my back ground check cleared , . it takes about 4-5 months delay if the background check is not cleared.

For now im following the tprocessing time on line, so for me its 16 months now. I will contact the office once that is complete.

I think you should contact them for the medical atleast.
THe medical request usually comes in your email, which you put in the application.
