For sometime now, I've been seeing everyone make fuss about 'the right to leave the province of nomination after becoming a permanent resident'.
I have searched and digested the 'mobility rights and the charter of rights and freedoms' and can say that technically there's no law binding anyone to live in a province by force. Before you start jumping and dancing, I want you to read the full charter very very well (see below).
http://publications.gc.ca/Collection-R/LoPBdP/CIR/904-e.htm#A. Mobilitytxt
If you look closely at this charter, it is said to have so many loopholes. This then give the provincial govt right on the permanent resident status of anyone as per section 6(3) of the charter. For example, as far as I know, one of the conditions for nomination in Saskatchewan is "I intend to live in Saskatchewan and demonstrate my ability to settle and work in Saskatchewan". For signing this form, you've technically declared your allegiance to the province. If you look closely at the declaration you signed, you will see a clause such as "I understand that any false statements or concealment of a material fact may result in my exclusion from Canada and may be grounds for my prosecution or removal" (http://saskimmigrationcanada.ca/sinp-100-9). Leaving the province will amount to lie and this contradicts your reason for applying for provincial nomination in the first instance.
The only way to be totally free from this bondage is when you become a canadian citizen. This does not mean people can still not move out of the province if they so wish to...but it has to be well explained. e.g. no job for your profession in the province. This is just my thought on this whole saga. Meanwhile, I will advise you consult with your lawyer for proper explanation and details before taking any step.
I recently heard that Saskatchewan govt has been sending emails to Saskatchewan Nominated Permanent Residents to supply information such as health card number, pay stubs, etc. The govt also released quota for respective application category.
I really don't know their motive but the provincial nomination is skewed. People who become permanent residents on PNP from outside Canada should and cannot be subjected to the same condition as people who already resides in the province.
I wish you all luck in your decisions!!!

Hi a2work,
First of all congratulation on getting PR. Could you please till us when your application went to "IN PROCESS" and how long it took to complete your back ground checks?
Thanks a lot and ENJOY its your day.

Hi McGill,
It went IN PROCESS on May,29th and within two weeks CPP-Ottawa requested for Passports.

I hope nima14 and all other pre-september applicants good luck ... Its coming guys very soon !!

Oh thanks Man! and I congratulate you for finally getting your PR.
My application went In process Feb. 2012 but I had been chosen for extra BG checks so I am being delayed until
the BG checks are done.
I have learned that CIC does not like it when applicants bug them about the slow progress in their applications.
So I guess that is the way to go in the time being

Hi Guys,

I finally got my passport request.

Here's my time line:

CSQ Issued - 09/28/2011
Applied for Fed - 12/30/2011
Med request - 03/12/2012
Med Recieved - 03/26/2012
Additional documents requested - 04/22/2013
Documents received by CPP-O - 05/29/2013
Status went In Process - 05/31/2013
Status changed to Decision Made / Passport Request - 06/06/2013

This forum has been invaluable time and again. I am in US and wanted to know how others sent their passport to CPP-O from US? FedEX/UPS with return envelope? I would feel at ease if I would hear from someone who had been in the same situation and see how they handled this.

Thanks and Good luck to everyone!

Thanks guys. The letter specifically says to send it to CPP-O. There has to be some one who mailed his passport from US to CPP-O.

I went to CIC website today and read somewhere that they are on strike. :'(
What does this means for people who have been waiting more than 2yrs now?
Is it only some staff of CIC or all?

Just sick of waiting hopelessly !!

I have compiled the petition for the Buffalo Forgotten Applicants. Now all we need to do is to collect as many signatures as possible and spread the word. You dont need to write your actual name or email if you are afraid in some way,JUST SIGN IT.Send this link to every person who might sign it,media outlets, immigration anywhere you can think of.i cant cover everything,so use your email and support the cause. The only way to do this is by doing it together. If you are sick and tired of waiting than help yourself.we all have to pitch in.

I have come to the realization that Canada is no longer the Canada that it once was. that is all.

My PR application is under process (in AINP category). My nationality is India.
I was nominated by Alberta in year 2011 (US visa holder category). This helped me obtain a work permit without LMO by HRSDC.
So, I moved to Calgary from USA and currently working on a closed work permit for an employer in Calgary.
Due to recent layoffs and lack of projects I decided to change my employer. I also got an offer letter from a new employer.
Can I start working for the new employer while my new work permit is in process? or I must wait until it is approved.
I am concerned about the process time of my new work permit because of the ongoing strike action by visa officers.
If possible, please send website links regarding this issue.

Thanks in advance

Its been almost a month that i have sent my passport to embassy (on their request) and still no response. Do you guys know how long would it take ? and the CIC website says that "decision has been made".

Got our PP with Visa stamped with COPR :) :) :) Thank you, Lord!
