Hey dumdumhogayamein,

I would recommend to do flagpole instead of doing inland landing, because once you call CIC call centre, your landing date would come after 2 months, if this is feasible for you then go for it, I hope this help.

I'm still waiting for my Passport back from Ottawa.

Nadeem

Hi Nadeem,

My only concern for a flag pole landing is that the US will have in their record that we tried to cross the border but were denied entry. And since its discretionary on the interpretation of the Border officer for future entries might be compromised. What do u think?

When i called the CIC to make an appointment for Ottawa in-land office, they said my appointment was scheduled and the earliest date is in 2 weeks but i need to wait to get my time and date confirmation in the mail from the ottawa CIC office. If this is the case, i will get something in the mail by Wednesday or Friday for sure and i will update you guys. Are u from Ottawa?

Its not necessarily two months, It depends which office you wanna go for landing, for my friend it was one month only.

Hey Dear,

Hi, this may help you - this was the reply of CIC when in an inquiry about the 'flagpole' procedure:

Sir, Madam,

Thank you for contacting Citizenship and Immigration Canada. I am pleased to follow up on your request:

Validating a Confirmation of Permanent Residence at a Land Border (Flag Pole Procedure)

Once you get your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688) from a Canadian visa office and, if necessary, your permanent resident visa in your passport, you must have these documents validated by an immigration officer at a port of entry. If you did not see an immigration officer when you arrived in Canada and are still in possession of your IMM 5292 or IMM 5688 document, then you must:
Go to the American land border and explain to the officer that you do not want to enter the US; but that you want to return to Canada immediately to validate an immigration document (this is called the flag pole procedure).
Once at the Canadian border, you must show the officer:
- your passport, travel or identity document (including secure visa counterfoil (IMM 1346), if applicable);and
- your Confirmation of Permanent Residence form and instructions issued by the Canadian visa office; and
- your proof of legal status in Canada, such as a valid work permit, study permit, temporary resident permit, or visitor document; or
- any immigration document in your possession (whether valid or not); and
- proof of implied status (if applicable), for example:
payment receipt;
copy of your application;
printout of online application;
proof of mailing.

To find the land border closest to you which offers immigration services, please visit the Canada Border Service Agency Web site.

Took me 30 days to get it back from NYC to Ottawa for Immi Visa Stamping. Hope this helps

I dont know if this is true, but one of my friend said that

If you send passport from US to ottawa, they send it back faster, than if you are in Canada. Does anybody know if this is correct? I dont want to get my hopes up!
