Thanks for sharing your experience.

"used to take about 2 weeks to get it back from the consulates in the US".
That's the thing! I hope it's not going to take ridiculously long in Ottawa. I sent mine on Feb 6, and nothing has happened yet. Maybe I'm just whining, but people need their passports to travel!

I am on the same boat, haven't got it yet.

Hi guys just wanted to confirm some info other posters had posted here.

A call centre agent of CIC called me two hours ago updating me on my case. (I called them first yesterday but the lady on the phone said she didn't have any info but would request people who do to call me back and they did!) She said that my application had been opened but not yet assigned to any officer as the focus of the Ottawa office is on the pre-Sept-2011 applicants. She stressed several times that I should be expecting the first time of communication from the Ottawa office by May as I filed my application in Jan, 2012, I am one of the bunch given secondary priority to. She said it would be in the form of email. I asked her if there was the possibility of me hearing from them sooner than May, and she said yes it is possible. But then she went on to stress that as Ottawa is now trying to finalize all the pre-sept-2011 cases by the end of this month--march to be the worst case scenario--, they are only promising applicants with the same timetable as mine a May deadline.

Hope this is somewhat helpful.

Congrats to people getting their PPR!

Can someone please advise me what are the exact requirements for the photos. I am thinking of getting them done before getting the PPR, so that I send the passport on the same day as request. One more day can make a difference, you never know :)

Thanks!

Any help would b appreciated.

thanks

One week left to the deadline, and there is no update on my file .

I have just had an email to send updated history since June 2011, do you thing it is just mine or should I do my spouses too?! It said if our medical has expired then we will send you doucuments! But so far none! The funny thing our medicals expire today, exactly today!!!

Send personal history of both. I did the same...no harm in sending extra details to them....

Syed

Syed,
Did you receive exactly the same email as I received or you received a variation? Did the email you received has that "Police certificate" part as well?
I did send them my personal history (only for myself, not for my wife though, since they didn't ask) and RPRFs.

the email every one receiving is more over same...they are copy pasting and removing few part of the email.
I received to send personal history...only. as I paid RPRF with application they did not mentioned it..

and Police certificate is template again for every one...I guess the mail subject line may give your clear picture what they are requesting...

Well, I hope so Syed. Thanks.

Well I believe you are from a visa exempt country therefore they have just asked for PP copies and 2 photos.
Once you submit these things you would be issued a confirmation of permanent residence(COPR) which you have to submit
at the border at the time of landing.

Indeed I am from a visa exempt country.
I'm already in Canada. Does that mean I need to do the flagpole dance at the nearest border?

For anyone interested, I did my medicals at the beginning of Nov 2011. I wasn't asked to redo them.

When I was on the phone to the immigration call centre, I told her that if I did my medical again, they would put my application on hold and wait for my wife's one. I would be worried that my medical would then expire again and I would be made to redo them yet again. She told me to do my medical now as there was no reason I couldn't complete my one and submit that.

I think police certificates are valid for 12 months.

I contacted my MP for this issue and just got a response. The medicals can not be extended since it's only good for 15 months. So we have to redo the medicals except for my wife's x-ray. She can do her x-ray after the baby is born. No surprise. So that's what we are going to do.

Then he added that the office is targeting to have all the Provincial Nominee applications back log completed by end of summer or early fall 2013. I'm not entirely sure if this is true. So take it with a grain of salt. But I think this gives some hope to myself and many pre Sept 2011 applicants who haven't heard anything yet from CIC that it could be finalized by end of year at most.
